Focus on your strengths, not your weaknesses, Focus on your character, not your reputation. Focus on your blessings, not your misfortune.

September 26 - thankful Sunday
When you focus on being a blessing, God makes sure that you are always blessed.
This week brought a little bad news for my family, my youngest son found out that after being cancer free for 20 years, his cancer has returned. The good news is that he’ll be having surgery next Wednesday to remove it. We are hopeful that once it is removed he will once again be cancer free. His blood tests show no sign of it having spread into the rest of his body. I’m thankful he has good doctors taking care of him and that they know his history so they are able to treat him in the best way possible.
The rest of my family remains healthy and happy. The school year has started for all and the kids are all excited about being back to school. For some it’s the last year, for others the first. The beautiful thing about having so many grands is the fact that they include a variety of ages. My youngest is now 6 and the oldest 25. I do miss having a baby in the family, but who knows when a great grand might be forthcoming. My oldest granddaughter got married last year.
The first day of Fall definitely brought some cooler weather our way, I’m thankful for all the warm clothing I have to wear. It’s sweater weather and time to layer up. These cooler days mean sweater weather, and I have plenty of them. No need to buy anything new. The truth is I probably have way to much clothing, no matter what season we are in. It keeps me busy changing out the closets.
I’m thankful for plenty to do and I never get bored. I like to do a lot of different things, but mostly I’ve been reading. I should be putting my time into other things. but reading is my favorite thing to do and takes me away from the worries of the day. It gets my mind in a better set of mind and makes me happy.
I’m just finishing up a novel by Danielle Steel about a woman who lost her parents on the Titanic and had the responsibility of raising 5 brothers and sisters on her own.The nice thing is the happy ending she has.
Now I’m into a book by Nora Roberts about a man looking for his happy ending. He’s been falsely accused of murdering his ex wife and can’t find any peace. It too, looks like it may have a happy ending.
I’ve been so thankful this week that I have a comfy home and all that I need to live comfortably. I don’t have everything, but I have all I need.
I can only say that when you count your blessings the whole world looks a lot brighter.
Every day is a gift from God. Learn to focus on the Giver and enjoy the gift.
