Chapter 8, Page 31, Book 21

I have so much to do! And there’s so little time.

John Gunther

August 31st - Summer is ending

There is a bunch of things we mean to do, and life is the time we spend meaning to do them.

Robert Brau;t

With Labor Day right around the corner, summer will unofficially end.  Many of our pools and parks which tourists go to  will all close.  There were many things I meant to do this summer, I meant to take a trip to the beach.  I wanted to go to Amish Country and visit all the shops there.  I also wanted to see some place new but never went anywhere.

All I can say is better luck next year.  Time flies by and before we know it, it is gone and what we haven’t been able to do just won’t get done.  It’s better, I think to do what you mean to do, now.

Carpe diem. Seize the day!

Horace

Don’t wait for the perfect time, because it will never come.  We need to seize the moment. There is no better time to do something than now. Stop making excuses, Take full advantage of life’s opportunities whenever and wherever they present themselves.

We have to play our own hand, or the world will play it for us. Seize the moment and don’t let it pass you by.Time passes way too fast.

It is not that we have too little time to do all the things we need to do, it is that we feel the need to do too many things in the time we have.

Chapter 8, Page 30, Book 21

Mondays are the start of the work week which offer new beginnings 52 times a year.

David Dweck

August 30th - keep positive

Either you run the day or the day runs you.

Jim Rohn

It makes a big difference in your life when you stay positive.  Our attitude does make a difference.  And the nice thing is we are the ones that have control of it.

It’s really nice to wake up and realized we get a fresh start, a clean slate, where anything is possible.  Gone are the woes of last week.  The past belongs in the past and has no business in our today.  Today is like a blank canvas that we can do anything we want with.

Mondays are the key day of the week and will set the tone for the way the rest of the week goes

If you start the week with a positive attitude on Monday, it’ll be a lot easier to fight off negativity the rest of the week.

Chapter 8, Page 29, Book 21

Silent gratitude isn’t very much use to anyone who has done a lot for you.

G.B Stearn, Robert Louis Stevenson

August 29th - Thankful Sunday

Gratitude is the memory of the heart.

Jean Massieu

Another week has gone by and my goodness its almost September.  As usual Im letting you know what I have to be thankful for this week.  I think its important to let others know what were thankful for and to whom.

Foremost in my mind today’s my oldest son.  It would have been his birthday today if he had lived.  I’m thankful to God for his gift to me of this son.  I waited a long time to get pregnant and had a difficult pregnancy so it truly is a miracle he was even born.

I’m also thankful for all of my children, They are all such a gift and have made my life truly worthwhile.  I’m thankful to them that they all support and love me and are always there for me when needed.  They are all doing fine and are safe and healthy at this point and I pray daily they’ll stay that way.

Although we are living through a nightmare of the variant virus right now and the Covoid seems worse than ever, but thankfully many of us have been vaccinated.  And I know I’ll be in line to get a booster shot when they become available to me.  They don’t last forever and I want to stay safe so I can still enjoy visiting with my loved ones when possible.  I believe the best thing we can do for our families is to get vaccinated.

I’m thankful to God that although we’ve had hot and humid weather here, we have had rain and everything is still green and growing.  So often by this time of year, the grass is turning brown, but not so this year.  Thankfully none of our thenderstaorms have been bad ones and no damage has been done.  I’m praying for those that may be in harms way from hurricane Ida.  That area has been terribly ravished by storms  and still trying to recover.  This would be the the time in 2005 that Hurricane Katrina hit them.  I was able to visit New Orleans some time after that and recovery was barely begun..

I’m also thankful for the man I hired to do the grass here.  He mows faithfully every week and the heat hasn’t stopped him. He does a good job too and I would never been able to do it on my own.  There comes a time in  our lives when we must admit we need help and ask for it.

I’m thankful for the technicians at the hospital who were so kind and helpful to me this week when I went for the ultra sound of my kidneys and the blood tests my doctor had ordered.  They were all very kind and cheerful too.  They made sure I got to the places I needed to go to.  I have to admire all the walking they do in a days time.

I’m also thankful to my children for getting me a walker to use when I have a lot of walking to do.  Due to my arthritis, I can not walk very far at all these days without the help of my trusty walker.

I thank any and all who might read this and hope you’ve had a week to be thankful for too.  It really does make a difference when we can say how thankful we are.

If you have lived, take thankfully the past; Make, as you can, the sweet remembrance last.

Chapter 8, Page 28, Book 21

Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.

Rumi

August 28th- Love what you do!

If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.

Marc Anthony

I didn’t always have a job I loved.  I only wanted to be a mom, a wife and raise my family.  I had no other career aspirations, but due to life’s necessities I had to go back to work.  Thankfully I found a job working as a secretary in the same school that my children were in.  That certainly helped and I did enjoy what I did.

After DDH died I had to find a better job that paid more than the school did.  And once again I found a job I enjoyed.  I worked in a one gal office as an office manager and didn’t have to deal with working with unfriendly people.

I still had a family to raise and was able to do that with a better job, so it all worked out for the best. My love for my family was my motivation.

They say if you can enjoy what you you will do a better job of it.  I only know I did the best I could do and that job provided me with the means to retire and now I’m truly doing what I love.  No one can tell me what to do or when anymore.  I’m my own boss and love everything I do.

I don’t have everything, but I have what I need and that is sufficient for me.  Money isn’t everything in life.

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work . And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.

Chapter 8, Page 27, Book 21

Awesome only gets bigger, stronger more awesome when we come together.

Polly Campbell

August 27th- two is better than one

Before leaving the house each day, you look at the mirror and say to yourself, I’ awesome and I’m going to have an awesome day!  Awesome starts now.

Jim Smith

I always like to thing that anything we do together is better than doing it alone.  None of us was meant to be alone in life.  We all need each other.  Just like my big family, what one doesn’t think of the other can.  Between the we have it all together.

Work is always done faster working together and fun is better when it’s done with someone else.  We need to share our happiness with others.

It is easier to solve a problem , if two heads are put together. It is better to have the power of two people’s minds to solve a problem or come up with a new idea than just one person on their own.

I may live alone, but I have plenty of family to help me out when I need it and we share a lot of enjoyable moments together.

In stressful situations it is always good to know they are there for me and support me in the hard times.  Their love and support mean more to me than I can say.  They are just awesome people to have around.

To be awesome you have to do some awesome things. Awesome people are really good at what they do, whatever that may be. They just don’t do what is good enough, they practice continual improvement.

If you want to be awsome spend some time learning how to get better at your work and do amazing things when you preform. People will think it’s awesome that you know as much as you do.

Passion is awesome,  Ideally we all should be passionate about what we do.  The possibilities are endless. Be awesome by adding more passion to your life.

Another way to be awesome is to be kind to others.  Being kind is never a waste of time and what you give always comes back to you.

Be awesome and live an amazing life!

You can either make yourself have an awesome day or prevent an awesome day. And that choice starts right now.

Chapter 8, Page 26, Book 21

Strength is a matter of a made up mind

John Beecher

August 26th - we can do what we think we can.

Make up your mind that no matter what comes your way, no matter how difficult, no matter how unfair, you will do more than simply survive. You will thrive in spite of it.

Joel Olsteen

My word for this year 2021 was Thrive.  I survived the pandomenic and am thriving.   Im determined to keep safe and will still wear a mask in crowds, and contunue to wash my hands and use hand sanitizer too.  I will do what ever it takes to stay healthy and safe.

Strong people are those that make up their minds to do what it takes. They say tough times don’t last, but tough people do.  They do whatever life requires to live.

We never know how strong we can be until being strong is the only choice we have .  I’ve been there and done that many times.  I never knew who much strength it would take to raise my family on my own, until I had to do it.

He who believes is strong; he who doubts is week.  Strong convictions precede great actions.

Chapter 8, Page 25, Book 21

The seeds of beauty start in humility.

Author Unknown

August 25th - Humility: an expresión of self respect.

Life is a long lesson in humility.

James M. Barrie

Humility is about an attitude; it is all to do with our state of mind. It is about being open to other’s opinions and ideas. It is about listening and not just hearing.  It is about giving regard to others and not to go through life like a bulldozer.

In spiritual language, humility is about being egoless…which means being humble.  Humility shines like the sun. It becomes a quality within the soul…one has no ego because we are in a state of self respect.

I’ve learned to be a humble person, every time I thought I’d done something important, God sent me a setback and showed me exactly who was in control.

Everything I have is due to Him.  He has made my life what it is.

Perspective is every thing.  What I’ve seen as someone else’s responsibility was really an opportunity to do something for someone else.

Just because something wasn’t done the way I would have, doesn’t lesson the value of help given and nobody cares anyway.

Being right is sometimes overrated.  It’s better to let others say what they have to say in their own way.

Just because I don’t like someone is no reason not to respect them.  Everyone deserves respect, including me.

I’ve learned to pray it out, I take it to God and he quietly listens before reminding me to look within myself. I’m not better or more important than anyone else.

It doesn’t matter where you get or how, you should never look down on others from the top because you were once one of them.

Never forget your beginnings, where you started or the obstacles you had to overcome.

Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less.

C.S. Lewis

Chapter 8, Page 24, Book 21

Don't let someone dim your light simply because it's shinning in their eyes.

Author Unknown

August 24th - Let your light shine!

Leave a little sparkle wherever you go!

Tinkerbell

In life you can either be a condle to be a bright light in the darkness or be a mirror to reflect the light from a candle.

Sadly many have the tendency to think that supporting others is inferior.  It’s sad that many prefer to start their own projects instead of supporting someone who is better at a thing and has something better established.  Why build a million huts when we can work together to build a skyscraper.

Unfortunately there is a group that is the fire estigquishers and break any mirror they see.

As a community , we are like a body.  Every part is special and useful. We should offer support to each other.  Two are always better than one.

It connects us to others , creating stronger communties and builds a better happier society for everyone.

We all are one.

Different people can see the same problem in different ways.  Kindness always matters, shine your light and help others.

Shine your light and make a positive impact on the world.  Nothing is so honorable as helping improve the lives of others.

Chapter 8, Page 23, Book 21

Every day is a new beginning.  Treat it that way.  Stay away from what might have been and look at what can be.

Marsha Petrie Sue

August 23rd - It’s Monday again

Morning will come, it has no choice.

Marty Rubin

I don’t know how it happens but the end of summer always brings some of the hotest weather.  Just about the time the kids are going back to school, summer gives us a last blast of heat making us think that summer could go on forever.

One thing it does for me is makes me wish fall would get here.  I’ve been a bit down at the thought of summer ending, but with the kind of heat we’re to have this week, I really think I’ve had enough of summer.  I’m ready for it to end.

I’m thankful I’ve got an air conditioner that keeps my house bearable.  I’m really comfortable as long as I stay inside.  But then I’m comfortable as long as I stay inside all winter too.  I  have whole house heat and air conditioning, but there is only so much staying inside that I can do.  I get cabin fever and long to get outside and breathe some fresh air.

I dont know how the weather is treating you, but for me Im ready for summer to end.  Truly there is a time and season for everything under the sun.

I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start, with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning.

Chapter 8, Page 22, Book 21

Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.

Melody Beattie

August 22nd - thankful Sunday

When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.

Willie Nelson

It’s once again that time of week when I take time to count my blessings for the week and give thanks for all of them. It seems the more I count them, the more I have to count.

This week brought us some rain but thankfully most of it went to the south and east of us.  We had some unexpected dry and sunny days to enjoy.

I’m thankful for my daughter who calls me every night without fail.  She’s even stated to call me earlier theses days as it’s getting dark earlier, I go to bed earlier.

I’m thankful for the wonderful summer days we all had to enjoy.  All my family has kept happy and safe and I’m praying that now that it’s back to school, everyone remains safe.

I’m thankful that the grandchildren and those in my family that are teachers can go back to school for real this fall.  They won’t have to do any online classes.  That was a lot of work for everyone.

I’m thankful for all the schools and teachers out there following the guidelines set up to keep them all safe and happy.  Those that were able to got vaccinated and those that can’t get the shot will continue to wear masks and wish their hands often.

I’m thankful for all of you who take the time to read this and hope you too can count your blessings and not your problems.

There is no happier person than a truly thankful, content person.

Even if youre on the right track, youll get run over if you just sit there.

Will Rogers

August 21st - keep moving

If you know you are on the right track, if you have this inner knowledge, then nobody can turn you off…no matter what they say.

Barbara McClintock

Being on the right track means you are in the right place and headed the correct direction to get to your destination.  But if you are just going to sit there you aren’t going to get anywhere.  Just like a train sitting on the track gets nowhere if it isn’t moving.

Putting forth effort is how things get done. You have to put in some effort. The train analogy requires two things a direction and effort.  The train tracks give the direction, but without effort you just sit there.

In order to keep my self on tract, I remind myself why I’m motivated to do anything, and most of all it’s my family that causes me to do anything.  I don’t want to ever let them down, so I keep moving.

Just like the light at the end of a tunnel isn’t always an on coming train, you can use the whistle of the train coming down the tracks help you avoid getting run over Our projects won’t get done, unless we keep on moving forward and get it done.

Seems like the light at the end of the tunnel  maybe you.

Chapter 8, Page 20, Book 21

Don't be  pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

August 20th - Live your dreams

All our dreams can true if we have the courage to pursue them.

Walt Disney

I think that it’s always best to follow your dreams so you never regret what could have been.  Following our dreams is what makes our entire life worth living.  Without our dreams, we are nothing.

When you are motivated it’s very hard to fail.  Some dreams take longer than others to achieve, but that’s what makes the end goal so worth it. Enjoy the process of doing what you love.

No one else is going to ;pursue your dreams for you.  Everyone has their own dreams and their own goals for what they want to achieve in life.  If you don’t go for it, no one else will

Don’t let anyone tell you your dreams are not possible.  We have to prove them wrong. If you are adamant bout your dreams and you work hard to achieve them , people will have no reason not to be proud of you.  Even better, you will be proud of yourself.

Life is short. Our days are numbered so why spend the doing something we don’t love.  It’s time to make a decision to go for it.

Dream big.  Focus on your dreams.  Make your dreams happen.

Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.  So throw  off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor.  Catch the trade winds in you sails.  Explore, Dream, Discover.

If you're persistent, you will get it.  If you're consistent,, you will keep it.

-Harvey MacKay

August 19th - Dont give up

Never lose hope. Storms make people stronger and never last forever.

Roy T. Bennett

Truth:  Success os a result of continuous efforts. One becomes successful if one is passionate bout something Passion is an attribute that results i moving steadily toward your goal.  If you set a goal and make continuous efforts to accomplish it, then you are consistent.and persistent .

If you want to keep the successs and not want to lose the moment then you need to be consistent.Consistency means doing something regularly.  It means keeping moving foreward.despite all the hurdles and problems we face along the way.

Success demands consistency and there is no alternative to success than hard work.

All aspiring entrepreneurs had one thing in common.  They did not give up and were consistent in their approach to work.

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.  Talent will not; nothing is more common that unsuccessful men with talent.  Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb, Eudcation will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.  Persistence and determination are omnipotentent.  The slogan, Press On, has solved and will solve the problems of the human race.

Calvin Coolidge
