The year’s at spring
And day’s at the morn;
Morning at seven;
The hill sides dew-pearled;
The Lark’s on the wing;
The snail’s on the thorn;
God’s in his heaven -
All’s right with the world!
April 4th - thankful Sunday
For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
the flowers appear on earth;
The time of the singing birds is come
and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.
Song of Solomon
It’s Sunday once more and my day to pause and reflect on what I’ve had to be thankful for this week.
We had snow here in Northern Ohio and although I don’t like cold at all, the day wasn’t bad, only a few inches of the white stuff accumulated on the ground. I’m thankful I have a safe and warm home to shelter in when cold winds blow.
The next day was sunny and bright and I got out and did the shopping for the week. I’m thankful I have a safe car to drive and stores nearby so I don’t have to drive very far.
I’m thankful I have enough to buy what I need and don’t go without like too many others. I’m thankful that there are food banks set up to care for those that need it. Many do. I’m thankful to be retired and to no longer have to work. So many are jobless right now. But thankfully everyone in my family has a good job and they also have what they need.
I’m thankful that all of them also are safe and healthy and once again, we came through the week safe and healthy. A few had their 2nd shot of the vaccine, some had some flu like symptoms a few days as a result, others like me, had no reactions at all.
I’m thankful that Spring has arrived and we are seeing more hours of daylight and sunshine. It is my favorite time of year.
I’m thankful that this Easter Sunday I’ll be able to actually go to church. I’ve appreciated the online streaming but actually going to church is a difinite step above as far as I’m concerned. I’ve been going to the same church for over 50 years now and it is like home to me.
I hope all of you have a safe and happy week too. Count your blessings instead of your woes.
Spring is God’s way of saying, One more time!
