Chapter 4, Page 21, Book 21

Don't fake it till you make it, fake it till you become it.

Author Unknown

April 21st - Act as if you know what you’re doing

We become what we think about.

Earl Nightingale

They say that the key to self confidence is to fake it till you make it.  Appear to be self confident and others will treat you as if you are and this will boost your confidence in yourself.

I don’t consider myself a fake person, I am who I am, but there have been times I’ve pretended to be more confident than I was in order to show someone else I could do the job.  I think if we spend enough time being in the fake mode, it’ll become a daily habit.  After years of being a mom, I had to enter the workforce and had to be confident in what I was going to do.  It made me want to be a better person than what I actually was.  I think that any time we want to do something badly enough, we can do it if we think we can.

The more I faked my self confidence the more confident I became.  We become what we think about.  The thing is, it’s not something we do once and forget about it.  We have to keep on doing it over and over again until we become who we want to be. If you believe you can work on improving yourself, there is opportunity all around you.

By imitating confidence, competence and an optimistic mindset, a person can realize those qualities in real life.

It doesn’t mean being phony or in authentic, it’s about changing your behavior first and trusting the feelings will follow.  By acting confident, outgoing, happy or motivated, we can change our mental state.

We pretend we know what we’re doing until we can work it out and become comfortable in the role. Our minds are powerful tools, what we think is what we become.

Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.

Napoleon Hill

Everything hangs on one’s thinking…A man is as unhappy as he has convinced himself he is.

Funny that, I have never read or heard the statement, "Fake it 'til You make it!" BUT I have known a few that fit that category. I have never been able to appreciate it. WE do appreciate honesty and facts.
Sherry & jack, the last day in Florida, we head out to our NC home base in the morrow.
Be safe, we enjoyed the visit. I beat Sherry her this morning. ;-)

Gosh, this resonates! Even as late as my 30's, I was quite self-conscious and insecure. I'll never forget the day one of the account executives advised me: This is Hollywood. Act 'as if.'!

PS - Today Pam is general manager of her own television station in Tampa.
