Chapter 10, Page 20, Book 21

Time is money.

Benjamin Franklin

October 20th- time is the most valuable thing a man can spend..

Time is what we want most but what we use the worst.

William Penn

Sometimes we feel as if there is never enough time.  Occasionally we just let it go to waste. You can get lost in time envisioning the future or regretting the past  Time is something that every one of us has the exact same amount of , every single day.  But what we do with those 24 hours can be as different as night and day.

Time management is important to all of us.  We need to make sure we make good use of the time we have.

Making lists and setting goals can help but only if you follow through with them. Nobody controls what we do but ourselves. We have to prioritize our time and make sure to do what’s important first. Time is what life is made up of and lost time is never found again.

Every moment we receive in life is precious and valuable.   We should all remember to take a moment to appreciate the gift of time.

Time is the coin of your life.  It’s the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent.  Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you

Chapter 10, Page 19, Book 21

In the madness, find calm.

Lupita Nyong'o

October 19th- reduce stress and clear your mind

You don’t have to control your thoughts.  You just have to stop letting them control you.

Dan Millman

It is possible to find the calm in the chaos of life.  You just need to find a spot to sit down and close your eyes and take some deep breaths.  Breathing deeply can reduce stress.

The other thing I do is to take a trip to the beach in my mind.  Just by visualizing sitting in the warm sand in the sunshine watching the waves come and go is very relaxing to me.  I don’t have to go any place, just see it in my mind.

It’s important that we leave the crazy world behind sometimes and find the quiet and peace in our lives. Life can be amazing but also very confusing if we don’t give ourselves time out to enjoy it.

Taking a coffee break or going for a walk around the block can change our perspective. I do some of my best thinking when going for a walk.

Listening to the news theses days can be a cause of major stress to some so we have to take control and turn it off.  The world will get buy if you don’t watch TV for a day or so.

Try blowing bubbles instead.  Blowing bubbles, especially with children, will reduce your stress and make you happy too.

I try to remember God is in control.  Thankfully I’m not in charge of the universe and He can do a much better job of things than I can.  Nothing is impossible for Him.

Don’t let stress, anger or worry control your life.  Keep calm and let it go.

Being relaxed, at peace with yourself, confident, emotionally neutral loose and free floating  the are the keys to successful performance in almost everything.

Chapter 10 Page 18, Book 21

Be grateful for the small things , big things and everything in between.

Mandy Hale

October 18th - It’s Monday and it’s OK!

Enjoy the little things in life for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Robert Brault

We should never take take any of our blessings for granted.  They are God’s gift to us.

I’m grateful for another new week to enjoy!  It’s another chance for me to get it right.  Last week may not have been very good, but I get a chance to make the best of this one.

Monday mornings are sometimes hard to take after an enjoyable weekend, especially when you find cold air blowing out of the heat vent.  Thankfully I have a reliable maintenance department to call on for help.  I’m sure they’ll be getting it working correctly again soon.  They always come when I call without fail and always fix what’s wrong.

I had this happen last year and found out it was caused by a spider building its web closing off the line for the gas.  I only take a guess and think this is wha has happened again.

I can only hope your Monday begins better thank mine.  Just remember to be thankful for all the little things we often take for granted.

It’s the little details that are vital.  Little things make big things happen.

The hardest arithmetic to master is that which enables us to count our blessings.

Erick Hoffer

October 17th - thankful Sunday

Thank you is the best prayer that anyone could say.  I say that one a lot.  Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility , and understanding.

Alice Walker

Here we are again Sunday and my day to give thanks.

This week brought another case of covid to DS#5’s family.  Making it 3 out of 5 now.  Thankfully the two girls only had mild cases and their mom is recovering slowly but surely.

I got to get out and have a fun time at our communty’s Pumpkin Fest and DD and her family were able to join me.  The community center was packed, but they had seating outside so that is where we sat.  It was a little dark out there for decorating pumpkins but they had the flashlight features on their cell phones so we made do.  We got the decorating done just before the lightning and rain moved in and we had to call it a night.

All the rest of my family is keeping safe and healthy for now The moderna vaccine has finally been approved for a booster shot, now all we have to do is wait for it to become available.  I’m so thankful for all the scientists, doctors, nurses and pharmacists for making this possible.  I’d rather be safe than sorry.

Although our weather turned chilly here after last night’s rain, I’m thankful that we did have several warmer days to enjoy.  Now I’m going to have to turn the heat on, but it has been checked and it is running smoothly.  My smoke alarms were checked too and they are working.  They even put new batteries in them to make sure they stayed that way for another year.

I’m thankful for the good landlord I rent from.  They do a good job of keeping us safe and happy here in our community.

I’m thankful too for my home and having all I need to make me happy and keep me sheltered from the storms.

I hope you all had a great week too and that you can also have a lot to be thankful for.

Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion  of thankfulness.  Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts.

Music is the best solution to any problem.

Author Unknown

October 16th - Music is  splendid thing

Music is the soundtrack of your life.

Dick Clark

Music can cheer you up when your sad, make you dance and allow you to drown out the world when you need to.

Music will help plants to grow.  It perks up your mood.  It lowers blood pressure, slowing the heart rate and reducing anxiety.

Listenting to songs that evoke a sense of joy can cause increased circulation and expanded blood vesseds which encourages good vascular health.

Listening to positive music can improve our study habits. Music boosts reading abilities

It can also help improve our memories.  It is very therapeutic and healing too.  It is very calming to our body and our souls.

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.

Chapter 10, Page 15, 2021

Evolving involves eleminating.

Erykah Badu

October 15th - let it go

Look around you.  Everything changes. Everything on this earth is in a continuous state of evolving, refining, improving, adapting, enhancingchanging.  You were not put on this earth to remain stagnant.

Steve Maraboli

Everything is constantly changing, and we must change along with it.  Nothing ever stays the same.  One of the most popular examples of this is the caterpillar changing into a butterfly.  The ugly becomes the beautiful.

We must be like the caterpillar and look for ways to improve ourselves.  Life is all about learning and growing.  We start out knowing little, but we learn as we grow.  Some tend to hold on to the old ways and are afraid to let go and learn a new way of doing things.

We need to let go of the old in order to move forward.  Old attachments and memories will hold us back unless we learn to let them go.

I am getting older everyday and I can’t begin to tell you of all the things I’ve had to let go of over the years in order to be who I am today.

I may not be a beautiful butterfly, but I am better than I used to be.

The whole point of being alive is to evolve into the complete person you were intended to be.

Age is an issue of mind over matter.  If you dont mind it doesnt matter.

Mark Twain

October 14th - we all get older every day.

Age is not lost youth, but a new stage of opportunity and strength.

Betty Friedan

I don’t really mind the age I am.  I like being a retired older person.  Being younger meant I had to go off to work every day and all I really wanted to do was stay home and take care of my family.  Now there is no family at home, but I am available to help out when ever I can.

I like living my life is the slow lane and having plenty of time to smell the roses.  I also do everything slower so being retired gives me more time to get things done.

As we age, look at all the wisdom we’ve gained.  Lots of things we didn’t know when we were young. I’m much smarter than I used to be. I’m not what I used to be, but I think I’m better than I was.

I’ve learned to be flexible and go with the flow.  I no longer have a certain day to do a certain thing.  I do pretty much what I want to do, when I want to.  I don’t follow a schedule and haven’t used an alarm clock since I retired.

I take naps in the afternoon and sleep well at night.  I wake up some days early and some days a little later. I don’t have to meet anyone else’s time line.  I’m on my own and no one tells me what to do, I do what I want, when I want.  This is a time of life I’m taking advantage of to the fullest!

Don’t let old age get you down.  Enjoy the age you are !

Aging gracefully means being flexible, being open, allowing change, enjoying change and loving yourself.

Chapter 10, Page 13, Book 21

There is nothing more truly artistic than to love other people.

Vincent Van Gough

October 13th - Love one another

Love isn’t an emotion or an instinct-it’s an art.

Mae West

Van Gough also said, It is good to love many things, for therein lies strength and whosoever loves much performs much and what is done with love is well done.

Love is beautiful and therefore I think it’s an art.  An art that people practice to show they care.

Love is an Art that comes from the heart. We must create it every day. We can all do things with love by showing we care.  A little hug goes a long way!

All a person really needs is love and that is all they need.  It’s simple but it’s powerful all the same and it’s one of the most feel good things we can do.

The power of love is well documented and it only makes sense in that it would be able to spur on great things that would otherwise seem impossible.

Love and life are intertwined.  Love gives life its meaning. and without it there is much life at all.  It’s important to fill your life with love

All you need is love. Love is all you need.

John Lennon

Chapter 10, Page 12, Book 21

The smallest deed is better than the greatest intention.

John Borroughs

October 12th - Just do it

Plans are only good intentions unless they immediate digress into hard work.

Peter Drucker

Everyone has good intentions, but not everyone follows through on them.  What is important is what we do, not what we plan to do.  We assume that people mean well and have a positive intent behind what is said. But sadly that is not always the truth.  Lots of people say they’ll do something, but then  it never gets done.

To save a life, to inspire and to work for the greater good has to be what we’re all here for.  Assuming intent will not get the job done.

We need to be careful in what we promise to do and make sure we can carry through with it before we say it.We need to keep our word and do what we say.  We see too many things that never get done, so we need to make sure we aren’t one of those that only have good intentions.

Your intentions don’t really matter, but outcomes do.  Like or not your ability to build trusting human connections with people will determine everything everything that happens in your life.

It’s up to each us to act with integrity, do the right thing. exercise good judgement and speak up when others don’t meet these standards.

Remember: one good deed is better that a thousand intentions.

Good intentions are simply not enough.  Our character is defined and our lives are determined not by what we want, say or think, but by what we do.

Michael Josephson

Chapter 10, Page 11, Book 21

Life is either a great adventure, or nothing at all.

Helen Keller

October 11th - be an explorer every day

The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.

Eleanor Roosevelt

We don’t have to go far to live a life of adventure.  It’s different for every person.  Some might enjoy climbing a mountain, Or some might like to enjoy exploring an old building.  Some might like explaring in the jungle or a hike on a trail.

We can all make adventures for ourselves and often right close to home.  I like exploring the stores looking for a bargain.  And sometimes just straightening up my closet is like a trip though a jungle.  Who knew I had so much stuff?

Having a large family like mine was an adventure in itself.  They were the tresures I’ d wanted all my life.  Every day was exciting and new.  It still is,  we just never know what will happen next.

The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.

Gratitude turns what we have into enough.

Aesop

October 10th - Thankful Sunday

I’m happy because I’m grateful.  I choose to be grateful.  That gratitude allows me to be happy.

Will Arnett

Its that time of the week when I take time to reflect on all the blessings this week brought in my life.

This week we found out that 2 of DS#5’s family had tested positive for Covid.  Thankfully his wife and daughter had mild cases and are in the process of getting better. DDIL# 5 has a lot of congestion and still cannot smell.  But she is feeling a little better each day.  His daughter AB had only a low grade fever and now that is gone too.  So thankful they only had light cases and am praying no one else in the family catches it and soon all will be well.

The rest of my family is still covid free and are healthy and happy, we can only hope it continues that way.  We have been very blessed.

Although I was to have had a doctors appointment on Friday, I missed it.  The time got away from me and when I looked at the clock, I was already an half hour late.  I called and thankfully they were able to reschule me for Monday.  I hate it when I do something like that.  This is the first time I can ever remember missing an appointment.  Thankfully I have a good doctor to take care of me.

Im thankful for the  Mum plant that DD brought over to me.  It will add some color to my fall decorations outside.  I love decorating for fall, but truly nature gives us plenty of beautiful things to look at.

Ithankful that once again I was able to get out to do my own shopping this week as well as get a hair cut.  These things were not possible a year ago and now I can do it all again.

Im thankful too that I have all I need, so far the things I need are still available in the store.  Some places are starting to see empty shelves or shortages limiting what they can buy.  Here Ive been able to get all I need with no problem.

We been blessed with warmer weather this week and still have had the rain we need.  I havent had to turn the a/c or the heat on.  It has just been perfect temperatures.  Not too hot or too cold.

I hope that you too have had a good week and you too also have all you need.

Remember to always be thankful for what we have, it turns it in to enough.

Always have an attitude of gratitude
