Chapter 7, Page 31, Book 20

Today is a good day to have a great day!

July 31st - Every day is a good one

Give every day the chance to become the most beautiful day of your life.

Mark Twain

Its a great day to smile more and worry less.  Its up to us - its our choice.

If I want to have a good day, more than not, I have to make it that way.  Im always thankful for a new day another chance at life to make it better than the day before.

Im grateful to see the sun peek through the windows each morning to wake me up.  It means Ive made it through another night.  Life is such a gift we need to be thankful for every day we get and make the most of it.

Itgoing to be a great day here at my house.  Although there is really nothing special going on, there is nothing bad happening here either.  I can pretty much make this day anything I want it to be.

Our days make up our lives and if we want to live a good life, we have to make some great days to enjoy.  Its our choice.

If I could wish anything at all for for you, it would be that you have a great day too!

Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year.

Chapter 7. Page 30, Book 20

The grass is greener where you water it.

Author Unknown

July 30th - the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of fence.

The grass is always greener…wherever you water and mow.  No matter how big or small, take care of the things you currently have.  See to it that your marriage, your children, your job and the blessings you have been entrusted with get plenty of water and sunshine.  Pull the inevitable weeds that pop up, Keep that lawn of life manicured and trimmed; don’t forget the edging.  Add seeds of growth where you find deficiencies, nurture the flowers that bloom and rejoice in the sight of the healthy beauty that lies within you very own fence line.

John Versey

If we take care of things and nuture them, they are always going to be better than without it.

Just like watering the grass during a dry spell is going to make it greener.  We always tend to think others have it better than we do, but that’s not true.  When we take care of what we have it’s usually better than what they have.

We need to cultivate our relationships if we want them to flourish.  Give them a good watering and they will thrive.

We need to be the best we can with what we’ve got and make the best possible life we can.

The best way to avoid the green grass syndrome is to make sure you water your own grass.

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

Chaper 7, Pag 29, Book 20

Sometimes you just need to know how much you mean to someone.

Author Unknown

July 29th - show you care

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you are the world.

Bill Wilson

Sometime you just need to hear how much you mean to someone.  Although many of us wouldn't admit to being told by our loved ones how much we meant to them, it matters a lot.  It means you are a sensitive person who has a heart and wants to give and receive love.

To me, there is nothing more precious in this world than the love and recognition of our family and friends.  And we should never miss a chance to tell them how much they mean to us.

Words don’t mean anything if they don’t correspond to our actions, but the verbal expression of affection someone feels for you is extremely powerful too.

A relationship deprived of loving words will inevitably make people full of doubts and fears and could end up badly. Words of love are motivating , inspiring and energizing.  Listening to someone expressing their appreciation is a feast for the ears and brings satisfaction and happiness.  It strengthens the bond we’ve established with another person.

We should never have words without actions, both matter.  These days a lot of people prefer to tell their loved much they mean to them on social media instead. But saying it in person from time to time is absolutely necessary.  That’s why expressing our feelings is the right way to be in a successful long lasting relationship.

Our language is the refection of ourselves.  A language is an exact reflection of the character and growth of its speakers.

Chapter 7, Page 28, Book 20

Throw kindness around like confetti.

Author Unknown

July 28th-be a little kinder than you have to

Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.

Scott Adams

Be kinder than necessary because it’ s not enough to be kind. One should always be kinder than needed. Most of us don’t know what another person is going through and a little kindness shown can make a great difference.  If we can make one person’s day a little bit better, then they will be more likely to spread the kindness around and brighten one more person’s day.

Kindness is the basis of all human interactions.  If you don’t have a kindness in your actions, it’s almost not worth it. There is always time to put a please or thank you after what ever might happen..  Kindness is a give and get thing, a bit like respect.  If you want respect you must give respect.  Kindness begets further kindness.

When kindness is overlooked we miss an apportunity to grow and learn about ourselves and others. When we reach out to help another, it is we that benefit.  It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life the no man can sincerely help another without helping himself.

When someone shares a kindness with you, pass it on.  A little kindness can go a long way.

How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it.

Chapter 7, Page 27, Book 20

The week is yours.  Own it !

Author Unknown

July 27th- life is what you make it.

Either you run the day or the day runs you.

Jim Rohn

This is a new week which means we have a new opportunity and opportunities can only be seen by people who seek them. You get in life what you look for.  Look for the opportunities this week and you find them.

We get to choose what kind of day we want to have.  It’ll be good or bad, because of our attitude. Every day may not be a good one, but there is something good in every day when we take the time to look for it. You can be as unstoppable, invincible and as powerful as you choose to be.

Today is a new day and a new chance to begin again. Whether you smile or groan when your alarm wounds, your thoughts and actions waking up really do set the tone for the rest of the day.  Start as you mean to go on .  Whatever the day ahead holds, picture it in your mind as going brilliantly.  The law of attraction states that thoughts become things and no matter what is in store for you , envision it as being a success and it will be.

Every day is a new chance to make your dreams come true. Never take a day for granted, because nobody knows how many we have  Make the most of the day and do something to better yourself everyday.

There is no need to be living a life that you hate.  Nobody is going to get you the life you want, it’s up to you to work for it and achieve it.  It’s never too late to chase your dreams and never to late to achieve them.  No matter what your age is.

Time is limited on this part, nobody knows how long we will live.  Don’t spend your time working to be someone that you’re not.  Work toward becoming what you want to be  Life is too short to be living soon else’s life. The life you live is determined by what you make of it.  Happiness is made through the steps it takes to get where you want to be in life.

The best way to make sure the future is exactly how you want it to be, is to make it that way.  You can either accept your current conditions, or realize you are the only person to fix them.  The decision is ultimately up to you.

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.  I can choose which it shall be.  Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.  I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

Groucho Marx

Chapter 7, Page 26, Book 20

A moment of gratitude makes a difference in your attitude.

Bruce Wilkinson

July 26th- lets be grateful we made it through another week.

Develop an attitude of gratitude.  Say thank youth everyone you meet for everything the do for you.

Brian Tracy

Sundays have become the day I take time to reflect on all the things that I have to be thankful for.  More than anything I’m grateful for my health and that of my family.  It’s so very good to hear from them as they do a weekly check in, to know that they are all healthy and safe.

So many are complaining about what they don’t have these days, that I think it’s better to think of what we do have.  We have our health and that is beyond wealth.  So many have suffered and even died from this virus.

Why some catch it and some don’t is a mystery, but I think a lot is due to the safe measures we take.  Wearing masks, washing hands, keeping safe distances all count and they are something we can all do.

So I’m very grateful this week has been kind to us and we are all here to enjoy another day.

We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.

Chapter 7, Page 25, Book 20

Focus on the step in front of you, not the whole staircase

July 25th - one step at a time

Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole stair case.

Martin Luther King

We need to take life one step at a time, one day at time so it doesn’t get too overwhelming.  Taken as a whole. it can get pretty scary.  There are so many unknowns out there and thats where faith comes in.  One step at a time, well get us there.

If we made it through yesterday, we should make it through today just fine.  Taking little steps to doing so makes it all easier to do.  Yesterday I took a step, today Ill take another and before we know it tomorrow will be here.  None of knows what tomorrow may bring our way, so we need to enjoy today.

When we focus on the first stair step, we see what today is.  It may not be the best there is but even though every day may not be good there is something good to be found in every day.  If you dont take that step youre not going to find it.

What matters most is knowing the direction you want to head, even if you aren't clear on a specific end point destination. Once you set your direction then you think about moving toward your goals.  Some times success is simply putting one foot in front of another and making it through another day.

We can only live life in the present moment and to do that takes feeling good about what we are doing with our time. This hour, this moment. Remember you dont have to see the whole staircase.  Just the next step.

Dont be afraid to take it.

Be willing to take the first step , no matter how small it is.  Concentrate on the fact that you are willing to learn.  Absolute miracles will happen.

Louise Hay

Chapter 7, Page 24, Book 20

Trust the wait.
Embrace the uncertainty.
Enjoy the beauty of becoming.
When nothing is certain,
anything is possible.

Mandy Hale

July 24th - look for the possibilities

Turn your obstacles into opportunities and your problems into possibilities.

Roy T. Bennett

There are many things that happen in our lives that veer us off the course that we’re on.  Obstacles that would cause many to slow down, experience stress or give up completely.  What we do not realize is that sometimes what seems like a major set backs and obstacles in our lives,  can turn into opportunities if we allow them to be.

Sometimes obstacles allow us the opportunity to reflect on how we could do things differently and examine what did and did not work right.  Obstacles can open up time and opportunity that we did not have before.  Time to decide on goals, time to learn a new skill, or time to complete tasks that you felt like you never had time for. Sometimes, it seems, the time is found for us.

Obstacles and stumbles allow us to go back to the drawing board and rethink how things could be different.  It’s the chance to do things you may never have done otherwise.  Things are always possible when we chose to embrace our obstacles as opportunities.  The possibilities are endless.

If we think we can do it, anything is possible.  It’s amazing what can happen when we take control of our thoughts.

Who you are tomorrow begins with what you do today.

Chapter 7, Page 23, Book 20

Never discourage anyone who continuously makes progress, no matter how slow.

Plato

July 23nd - an encouraging word

Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.

Robert Collier

Sometimes we just need a bit of support and help to feel and do better again. An encouraging word from a friend will make all the difference.

Slow progress doesn’t equal failure.  It is progress, because you are moving toward your goals and desires.  Sometimes its better not to rush the process. Bide your time and develop your abilities so when the time is right, you will reach your goals and achieve success.

Slow progress leads to mental resiliency and personal growth.  Stamina, grit, resiliency, mental strength and perseverance are hallmarks of a winner.  They develop a powerful strength of character and are not defined by their circumstances since their cause is greater than their failure or losses.

Don’t be discourage by the time it takes to achieve your goals or dreams. You can achieve them by constantly chipping away at them. Slow and steady wins the day!  We don’t have to be perfect, we just have to try.

A word of encouragement during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success.

Chapter 7, Page 22, Book 20

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

The Serenity Prayer

July 22nd - an important lesson

Some things in our control and others not.  Things in our control are opinion, pursuit, desire, aversion, and in a word, whatever are own actions.  Things not in control are body, property, reputation, command and in one word whatever are not our actions.

Epictetus

Most spend a lifetime worrying about things they can’t control.  We don’t get over it, but we go through it one step at a time.  Ignoring a problem doesn’t make it go away.  It’s all about taking one positive step at a time and staying the course.

We have to remember what’s in our control and what’s not.  We need to focus on what we can control and that is me, and what I do.  The corona virus seems out of our control. But I can control my willingness to wear a face mask, my wilingness to use hand sanitizer.  I can wash my hands over and over. I can stay a safe distance from others, to keep them safe.

If you don’t like something, change it.  If you can’t change it, change your attitude.

Chapter 7, Page 21, 2020

Remember the days you wished for what you have now.

Author Unknown

July 21 - be careful of what you wish for

We all have our own life to pursue, our own kind of dream to be weaving, and we all have the power to make wishes come true, as long as we keep believing.

Lousia May Alcott

I so remember the days I used to wish for just 5 minutes of peace and quiet.  The days when my children were all home and were small, there was no quiet to be found. Only when they were tucked into their beds at night, did it get quiet.  Well I got my wish and now the children a grown and gone and I have nothing but peace and quiet.  Hours and hours of it.  Gone are the days that I need it.  Strange as it seems those days make me wonder what on earth was I thinking.  I didn’t realize I had it so good.

Sometimes we just don’t appreciate what we have until it’s gone.  The days go by so fast we hardly realized they are growing up.  We wish they could feed and dress themselves and suddenly our babies are adults.  There is no bringing back the days we’ve lost. We have only today and believe me when I say I’m more careful of what I wish for.

These days of isolation are making realize more than ever the things I took for granted.  It’s best to be happy with what you have while you have it.  You never know when you could lose it.

It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.

Eleanor Roosevelt
