Chapter 1, Page 25, Book 20

Always laugh when you can.  It is cheap medicine.  Merriment - it is the sunny side of existence.

Lord Byron.

January 25- laughter is the best medicine.

There is nothing in the world as irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor.

Charles Dickens

They say a day without laughter is a wasted day and Id have to agree.  Smiling and laughing can have a positive effect on our well being. Laughter is good and good for us. Its tue laugher is strong medicine.  It draws people together in ways that trigger healthy physical and emotional changes in the body.  Laughter strengthens our immune system, boosts mood, deminishes pain and protects you from the damaging effects of stress.  Nothing works faster or more dependably to bring our mind and body back in balance than a good laugh.

Humor lightened  our burdens inspires and connects us to others and keeps us grounded, focused and alert.  By seeking more opportunities for humor and laughter we can improve our emotional health, strengthen our relationships, find greater happiness and even add years to our life.

Laughter releases endorphins, the bodys feel good chemicals.  Endorphins promote an all over sense of well being and can even temporally relieve pain. It can protect you against a heart attack and other cardiovascular problems. Laugher gives the courage and strength to find  new sources of meaning and hope.  Even in the most difficult of times, a laugh, or a smile can go a long way toward making you feel better.  And laughter really is contagious.  Just hearing laughter primes your brain and readies us to smile and join in the fun.

Smiling is the beginning of laughter and like laughter it is contagious.  An essential ingredient for developing a sense of humor is not to take yourself too serously and laught at your own mistakes.  So choose to laugh when ever you can. Dont let a day go by with out laughing. The ability to laugh, play and have fun will make our creativity flourish and bring new opportunities our way.

The Joyful people are those who are generous and kind
the miserable people are this who are selfish and unforgiving

The problem solvers are those whose lives are powered by faith and optimism
the problem people are those whose lives are drained by doubts and pessimism

The winners are those who learn to take full responsibility for their actions
The losers are those who blame others for their failure

As I read this I thought of your vacation with the family at Christmas time. I know you guys had a lot of laughs. I can remember when our family would get together and remember funny times in our lives and laugh loudly. Yes laughter is a great medicine. It also makes for a pleasant life.

I do think when you smile and laugh you heal yourself. I read a book about someone doing that once.

I love what Anne Lamott says about laughter: "Carbonated holiness."
My former pastor once observed, she wished the only television available to hospital patients would be the Comedy Channel.

Some of the best moments are smiling and laughing with friends and it doesn't cost us a penny.

smiling on a cloudy day literally takes the blues away.
