Chapter 12, Page 4, Book 19

Christmas is a season for kindling the fire of hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart.

Washington Irving

December 4th - have a heart

If you haven’t in charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble

Bob Hope

I don’t believe that Christms comes in a box. Christms is so much more the all the trappings of tinsel regardless of how we choose to celebrate it.  Christmas is the Spirit of Love .  Its a time to step outside the ordinary and be of good cheer, give some gifts , make some food and spend more time than usual with friends and family.  To take time to sing the carols, decorate a tree, string some lights and appreciate Light is a main them of the season.

Its a time when we connect with the eternal and devine. If we take Christmas to heart and get past the anxieties in arranging for gifts and parties well discover  the true meaning of Christmas.  The Christmas story captures the heart in a way that transcends all the commercial hype. That there was no room at the inn is an important part of the story.  Its believing that the true meaning of Christmas is about possibility in the misdst of the impossible.  The Lord our Savior came on Christmas Day.

Christmas miracles happen all the time Believe in the goodness the world has to offer.  We need to have Christmas in our hearts again.

He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree.

I like that last quote. I think you must have Christmas in your heart; it won't be found anywhere else. Certainly not in the way it has become some commercialized over the years!

You have said some great truths here. I smiled at the first line or so, 'Christmas does not come in a box.......' Ain't that the gospel.
Sweet read filled with truth.

How very true. When we get too caught up in all of the hustle-bustle and extraneous trappings of Christmas, we run the risk of forgetting its real meaning. Jesus is the reason for the season.

How very true. I wish more people shared that philosophy with their children while they were little. Children learn what they live.

I had never read the Bob Hope quote. It’s a keeper.

I love that Bob Hope quote. We always adopt someone (or a cause) for Christmas. This year at my daughter's white elephant party we are all bringing something for Freedom House- which caters to abused women that leave their abusive situation with their children.
Lovely post. xo Diana
