Chapter 7, Page 14, Book 19

Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.

Maya Angelou

July 14th - Just Smile

Smile at strangers and you just might change a life.

Steve Maraboli

To me being a rainbow is to be a person that brightens somebody else’s day.  To be a person that puts their own feelings and worries aside to lift others spirits when they are down

We all have the possibility and the privilege to be a rainbow in someone else cloud by smiling.   You just never know how a small thing like a smile can brighten someone’s day.

They say that every cloud has a silver lining and by focusing on the positive in every situation, a smile can be like the silver lining in a dark cloud.  It doesn’t make problems any less serious, but it does make situations easier to bear.

Not only can smiling life your mood, but it can also elevate the mood of those around you.  When you smile at others it gives them a boost of happiness.

It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and make the day worth living.

F. Scott Fitzgerald

I have a habit of smiling and nodding at strangers. I love it when a sad looking face breaks into a smile. I feel sorta sad myself when the person does not return the smile. I think maybe they have a lot on their mind, but I keep smiling. I like it.
I know you are a smiler, it comes across every day!

One of the things I love best about the Deep South is (I think) more people are inclined to smile at strangers. I'd not seen that quote by F. Scott before, but I sure like it!

That is so true when you smile at someone it gives them a boost of happiness. I've smiled at clerks working in stores and you can almost see them relax or seem more comfortable in what they are doing. So many benefits come with such a simple thing like a smile.
