Chapter 3, Page 5, Book 19

An optimist is the human personification of Spring

Susan Bissonette

March 5 - optimism

Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen.  Keep in the sunlight.

Benjamin Franklin

An optimistic person thinks the best possible thing will happen, and hopes for it even when it’s not likely.  They accept that there is negativity in life but they seek the brighter side of life. They find the beauty where others might see ugliness.

Gratitude is the key.  If you are a grateful person, you take time to reflect on the good things in life and are thankful for them.  They make a conscious effort to think about the good things in life.

You are what you think.  If you surround yourself with negative, people, things, words and images it is bound to affect you.  Optimistic people will expose themselves to as much inspiration and uplifting encouragement as they can.  How can anyone not be inspired by the spirit of optimism that the springtime seems to bring? Springtime is seen as a time of growth, renewal of life being born, the cycle of life once again starts over.

It is not easy to keep a positive attitude, but over time it becomes easier.  Optimism is an attitude.  It’s a choice we make every day.  We can choose to look for the good or the bad in every situation.  As for me I choose an attitude of Gratitude.  I’m optimistic that everything will turn out for the good.

Grab you coat, and get your hat
Leave your worry on the doorstep
Just direct your feet
To the sunny side of the street.

you don't get any better than that opening quote comparing optimism to Spring. That one is so true and UI had never thought of the comparison. SWEET...

So true that negativity breeds negativity and the same applies to optimism. Better to be optimistic and grateful than to allow negativity to rule one's life. Spring is a great time of new beginnings indeed!

That last slide is the cutest thing I've seen in a long while!
"You are what you think." That's for sure! When 'bad' things happen (as they will), I just remind myself of that verse, not to lean on my own understanding.

95% of what we worry about - never comes to pass.
