Chapter 11, Page 11, Book 19

This will remain the Land of the Free only so long as it is the Home of the Brave.

Elmer Davis

November 11th-lest we forget

Freedom is never free.

Author Unknown

Wars are costly, not just in money, but in lives and loss of peace. We who have never had to endure a war in our own country couldnpossibly imagine what it would be like to live in a country where war was the norm and not the exception.

Because we live in a land where peace exists we have no fear of where our next meal is coming from or where we’ll be able to sleep tonight.  Our brave men and women that protect our country and keep the peoce are to be applauded for all they do. They have pledged to do their duty no matter what the cost.

Try to remember what we have, because of the sacrifices that have been made for us.  I’m so thankful for our heroes’, the men and women that serve our country, past, present and future and cannot sing their praises enough to possibly express thanks for all they do.

pray for their protection every day.  I think prayer helps and does wonders.  And theses wonderful people do deserve our prayers.

Lord, Bid wars trumpet cease,
Fold the whole earth in peace.

Chapter 11, Page 10, Book 19

Of all the seasons, autumn offers the most to man requires the least of him.

Hal Borland

November 10th- lets have another cup of coffee

Autumn is the hush before winter.

Old Proverb

Sunday mornings give me the opportunity to wake up slowly and enjoy sipping on my hot cup of coffee.  There is no reason to hurry. Church services aren’t until 11 o’clock.

There is no need to worry about what’s on the agenda, Sunday is a day off for most of us.  So I might as well have another cup of my good morning coffee.

While week day mornings find us in a scurry to get to work, Sunday mornings are a reprieve from the rest of the week.

Every one must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn.

Chapter 11, Page 9, Book 19

To find yourself, think for yourself.

November 9th- individuality

Think for yourself, or others will think for you without thinking of you.

Henry David Thoreau

We are all individuals and have our own thoughts, no two people think the same way.  What a boring world it would be if we all thought and did the same things everyday.

We say that great minds think alike but the truth is, We need many good different ideas as possible so we can pick the best ones.  People have different backgrounds , upbringing, where they lived, went to school and see things in a way we cant.

Its not good to let anyone do your thinking.  We must think for ourselves and stand up for what we believe in.  If we dont others will do our thinking for us and well find ourselves following their lead instead of going our own way. So walk the walk, not just talk the talk.  If you really believe in something, then dont just argue about it, do something about it.

We have to stand up for what we believe in even when we might not be popular for it.  Honesty starts with being ourselves , authentic and true to who we are and what we believe in, and that may not always be popular, but it will always let you follow your dreams and your heart.

Tabatha Coffey

As difficult as it seems, sometimes we will even stand alone and others will go their own way, but no matter its better to stand by yourself than to go with the wrong crowd.  Its the only way to figure out where you need to go and who you need to be.

It take nothing to join the crowd and every thing to stand alone.  There are many ways to blend in, but only one reason to stand out, and that is to be yourself.

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it i time to pause and reflect.

Chapter 11, Page 8, Book 19

At the end of the day give up your worries and give thanks for the journey

Ben Vereen

November 8th - In the end...

Every ending is a new beginning.

Marianne Williamson

One day ends and another begins and the journey goes on and on, still I am thankful for each day.  None of us knows when the end will come so we need to appreciate and enjoy each day.

The Train of Life
by Author Unknown

Life is like a journey on a train with its stations, with changes of routes and with accidents.  At birth we boarded the train and met our parents and we believe they will always travel on our side.  However at some station our parents step down from the train leaving us on this journey alone.

As time goes by, other people will board the train; and they will be significant i.e. our siblings, friends, children and even the love of our life.

Many will step down and leave a permanent vacuum.  Other will go so unnoticed that we do not realized that they vacated their seats.

This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes, and farewells.

Success consists of having a good relationship wilth all the passengersrequiring that we give the best of ourselves.

The mystery to every one is:  We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down.  Se we must live in the best wayLove, forgive. and offer the best of who we are.

It is important to do this because when the times comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty; we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life without us.

Along my journey I have learned that the more thankful I am, the more I have to be thankful for.

Chapter 11, Page 7, Book 19

Creativity is intelligence having fun.

Albert Einstein

November 7th - the mind s a wonderful thing

You cant use up creativity.  The more you use, the more you have.

Maya Angelou

Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. Intelligence has been defined in many different ways including ones of capacity for logic, understandingself awareness, learning, emotional knowledge planning, creativity, and problem solving.

Being creative doesnnecessarily mean you are artistic or musical.  It means your brain is designed in a way that helps you solve problems.

Creative people are always on the lookout for possible solutions, which involves intentional noticing things and not pegging people you meet based on your expectations or categories youve established in your mind.

I donconsider myself a creative person, but know haw to take the advantage of the creativity of others.  Im what you’d call a copy cat.  But even us copycats have to do a little creative thinking to be able to  use the creativity of others.  I use creative ideas of others and make them work for me.

Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way.

Chapter 11, Page 6, Book 19

It hurts to let go but sometimes it hurts more to hold on

Author Unknown

November 6th - hanging on or letting go

Theres an important difference between giving up and letting to.

Jessica Hatchigan

I think that letting go hurts so much because we feel like we’ll forget the ones we love.  But let me tell you that it hurts so much more to hold on.

Never let go of the memories you shared.  Never let go of keepsakes.  But let go of your regret, your sadness and your rage.  Life is an endless cycle which flows, turns, and slips through our fingers despite how much we want to hold on to it.

Life is a difficult balance between holding on and letting go.  We aren’t taught this in school and it’s something we are not prepared for.  However, one of the many things we learn is that there are different types of loss in life.
We must learn to enjoy the here and now.  What was lost yesterday no longer exists .  Let it go, accept it.

We say hang in there and then say let it go, It’s a fine line. And sometimes it’s the people we hold on to are the reason we can let go.

Some of us think holding on makes us stronger, but sometimes it is letting go..

Chapter 11, Page 5, Book 19

Happiness is simple when you keep it simple.

Author Unknown

November 5th - keep it simple make it fun

It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.

Laura Ingals Wilder

Life is really simple but we insist on making it complicated. Living simply entails stripping away the nonessential and focusing your time and energy on the things that matter most.

I’m thankful for the simple life.  It is when we focus on what’s truly important in life that everything works out for the best.  By focusing on what’s most important, your stress levels will be lower and your health will benefit.
Stress can affect your mood, blood pressure and mental health, just to name a few.

The most simple things can bring the most happiness.  The more things you own, the more responsibilities you have, the less freedom you enjoy.  You’ll find that simple things such as walking, looking at the clouds and smelling flowers can make you happy.  A simple life gives you more freedom to enjoy life..

It is no bad thing to celebrate a simple life.

Chapter 11, Page 4, Book 19

Gratitude is riches.
Complaint is poverty.

Doris Day.

November 4th - complain less, give thanks more

Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain - and most fools do.  But it takes character and self control to be understanding and forgiving.

Dale Carnegie

Gratitude makes you happier healthier and more popular.  Complaining will quench a grateful heart and giving thanks will chase away that ugly spirit of complaining.  You cannot complain and give thanks at the same time.

Thanksgiving is powerful, it releases peace to our hearts.  It is a vital anti anxiety prescription.  When you are tempted to give into fearful, worrisome or anxious thoughts, pray with do so with thanksgiving.  The very act of thankfulness will build up our faith and drive back anxiety and fear because fear and gratitude can cohabitate simultaneously in our hearts.

If you dont like something change it. Doncomplain because you dont have.  Enjoy what youve got.

H. Stanley Judd

It seems we live in an age when complaining comes more naturally to people than expressing thanks.  We need to make it a choice of life every day and look for things and people for which we can give thanks .  Cutivating a grateful heart will help to cure the habit of complaining, protect you from discouragement , guard you heart from anxiety and enrich your life.

So don’t miss the chance to give thanks if you want a rich, enjoyable life.

If you have time to whine and complain about something then you have the time to o something about it.

Chapter 11, Page 3, Book 19

Food for the body is not enough.  There must be food for the soul.

Dorothy Day

November 3rd - thankful for encouragement

You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call failure is not the falling down, but the staying down.

Mary Pickford

Words of encouragement are food for the soul.  What we say can encourage, edify and give confidence to the hearer.  A right word spoken at the right time can actually be life changing.

We can literally increase our own joy by speaking right words.  We can also upset ourselves by taking about our problems or things that have hurt us.

Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

The words that come out of our mouths go into our own ears as well as others. Then they drop down into our souls where they either gives us joy or sadness, peace or upset.  depending on the types of words spoken.   When we understand the power of words and realize that we can choose what we think and speak, our lives can be transformed.  If we want to be healthy in our soul and spirit we should choose to take in words that will build us up and increase our peace and joy.

Every little obstacle - every fall you have - is an opportunity.

Chapter 11, Page 2, Book 19

Silent gratitude isnt much to anyone.

Gertrude Stein

November 2nd - giving thanks

Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.

Charles Dickens

Saying thanks is a way to show how much we appreciate someone or something they’ve done. So without further ado I’m sharing what I’m thankful for today.  I keep an ongoing list of three things every day that I’m thankful for and this is today’s.

7561. for eggs to share for dinner
7562. for lots of family fun
7563. for winter coats and gloves

I’m also very thankful for all of you that take the time to read and comment on this blog of mine.  It makes me feel like I must be doing something right.  Your kind words encouraged me to keep on sharing my thoughts each day.

Appreciation can make a day, even a life.  Your willingness to put ito words is al that is necessary.

Chapter 11, Page 1, Book 19

Be thankful for what you have; youll end up having more.  If you caoncentrate on what you dont have, you will never, ever have enough.

Ophra Winfrey

November 1st -this is Thankful Month.

The more we express thanks, the more gratitude we feel.  The more geratitude we feel, the more we express thanks.  Its circular and leads to a happier life.

Steve Goodier

I try to be a thankful person all the time but especially the month of November when Thanksgiving is on the calendar.  I have found that there is a lot of benefits of being thankful and counting my blessings always makes me happier.  I’ve so much to be thankful for the list seems unending.

So for this month, all my posts will be about being thankful.  Believe me when I say there is always something to be thankful for when we take the time to look for it.

30 days of Thankfullness may sound like a lot, but there is a lot to be thankful for.  Each day I’ll be centering in on what I’m thankful for that particular day.  Every day is new and different and no two are alike.  That is somthing to be thankful for in itself.  I have so much to be thankful for the list is unending.

For November 1st

7558. for saints and heroes that inspire us
7559. for thoughts of heaven to encouage us
7560. for life everlasting

Truly living means your days are filled with joy and thanksgiving for the very fact that you are alive.  As opposed to constantly going after the next best thing you are going after a new goal to achieve.

Chapter 10, Page 31, Book 19

When people are highly motivated, its easy to accomplish the impossible.  And when theyre not, itimpossible to accomplish the easy.

Bob Collings

October 31st - Keeping motivated

The way to get started is to quite talking and begin doing.

Walt Disney

Feeling motivated is a great way to feel  When motivated individuals often feel like they could take on the world.  Unfortunately it is incredibly difficult to feel motivated constantly and we all go through periods where we feel unmotivated.  However it is important to be able to get motivated when things must be done.

Over the years I’ve found a few solutions to this common proplem so I thought I’d share them with you, especially for those that are in need of some motivation.

Make a deal with yourself and tell your self when I’m done with the job I can take a walk in the park and buy some icecream.

If you don’t feel motivated then act like it.  The strange thing is that within a few minutes you actually start to feel motivated , positive or enthusiastic for real.

Its important that you really feel how it makes you feel.  Do the toughest job first, Its not whether you get knocked down, itwhether you get up. Viewing how much youve done, You can be pleasantly surprised to review what youve done.   If you fail then try to find the valuable lessons in each of your failures.

If you don’t know or don’t have a good enough reason to do something, then it will be hard to get it done.  Do things that you have strong reasons to do.  Focus on the positive and learn to let go of the negative before thy have a chance to take control.

Break down your task to small steps.  When you are done move on to the next step and focus on that one.  Small successes will keep your motivation us an keep your focus away from the big picture, stops you from overthinking and being overwhelmed and discouraged.

Make each day count.  While we don’t have all the time in the world, but if we focus on today and do the thing we really want to do, each day will take care of itself.

If you are working on something that you really care about, you dont have to be pushed.  The vision pulls you.

Steve Jobs
