Chapter 8, Page 14, Book 18

Promise only what you can deliver. then deliver more than you promise.

Author Unknown

I’ve promises to keep

Losers make promises they often break.  Winners make commitments they always keep.

Denis Waitley

When we don’t keep a promise, it communicates that we don’t value the people that we’ve made them to.  We have chosen to put something else ahead of our commitment.  Even when we break small promises, others learn they cannot count on us.

Keeping promises is important for happy and healthy relationships.  To know that you trust someone is one of the keys to friendship.

It’s easy to make promises but keeping and delivering on them show that you have integrity and honesty and that you are trustworthy.

If you can’t keep a promise don’t make it.  Make a promise and be committed.

But  I’ve promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep

Robert Frost

Good morning, Pam!
Man, does this resonate! (I think you'll see what I mean in the first part of my own post.)
But you know, it's a valuable lesson. And you've underscored it beautifully!
Have a sweet day!

I was thinking of Myra when I read this one about promises. Just a short time ago Someone making a promise and blowing it off was in her blog.
I was successful in business for years, no advertising just the normal give away things, pens, key fobs and hats. I did not say that, one of your quotes of giving what you promise and more.It works over all in life to make you a better person and TRUSTED!

I was guilty when the kids were much younger of sometimes promising things and not coming through. When I realized that I quickly changed my ways and didn't promise things unless I knew I could fulfill them. To this day, I always try to keep the promises made and make sure I don't make them if I can't keep them.

Andy had this one friend and every time he came over he was on his phone to his girlfriend - I love you was all I heard. Today they hate each other. LOL You have to be careful when you say you love someone you should mean it. sandie

Pam- You always do a good post and I hear things here just when I need to hear them. I have been so bitter over someone that lies to someone(s) I love and he makes wild promises to them and never keeps them. They are disappointed and sad when that happens. I just pray that God will guard their hearts so they don't end up bitter. xo Diana
