Chapter 7, Page 2, Book 18

As You Travel Through Life

Author Unknown

As you travel through life there are always those times
When decisions have to be made
When the choices are hard and solutions seem scarce,
Ant the rain seems to soak your parade

There are some situations where all you can do
Is simply let go and move on,
Gather your courage and choose a direction
That carries you toward a new dawn.

So pack up your troubles and take a step forward
The process of change can be tough,
But think about all the excitement ahead.

There might be adventures you never imagined
Just waiting around the next bend,
And wishes and dreams just about to come true
In ways you can’t yet comprehend!

Perhaps you'll find friendships
that spring from new things
As you challenge your status quo,
And learn there are so many options in life,

Perhaps you’ll go places you never expected
And see things that you’ve never seen,
Or travel to fabulous, faraway worlds
And wonderful spots in between!

Perhaps you’ll find warmth and affection and caring
And somebody special who’s there
To help you stay centered and listen with interest
To stories and feelings you share.

Perhaps you’ll find comfort in knowing your friends
Are supportive of all that you do,
And believe that whatever decisions you make,
They’ll be the right choices for you.

So keep putting one foot in front of the other,
And taking your life day by day…
There’s a brighter tomorrow that’s just down the road
Don’t look back!  You’re not going that way!

Life keeps leading us on journeys we would never go on if it were up to us.

Focus on the journey, not the destination.  Joy is found in not finishing an activity but in doing it.

Greg Anderson

Among the endless metaphors for life, a journey is perhaps one of the best.  Everyone is on their own journey and goes at their own pace.  The important thing is to enjoy the journey no matter what path we are on.

Essentially life consists of all the moments on the way to our various destinations. We never know what lies ahead.

No road ever comes without bumps and bends, twists and turns that throw us off course.  However, it is those roads that make the journey exciting.  Just hold on tight and enjoy the ride.

The greatest thing in this world is not so much where we are, but in what direction we are moving.

Oliver Wendell Homes, Jr.

Have faith trust the journey.  Believe in your strengths and abilities to get to the end.  Keep your head up and have faith and know that all things will fall in to place.

The journey of life is like a man riding a bicycle.  We know he got on the bicycle and started to move.  We know that at some point he will stop and get off.  We know that if he stops moving and does not get off he will fall off.

William Golding

I liked that As You Travel Through Life poem. It does seem like a good thing to compare life to a journey. Sometimes the road is a good one to travel, sometimes we can't wait to get off of it or hope for a detour along the way, but you are right, Ma, we got to keep on moving!

This poem has really spoken to me today! 'Just when I've begun having misgivings about my upcoming road trip and the 'what-ifs' crowd my brain, you shared this reassurance. Trust the journey, indeed!

I enjoyed this one. When I got to the last line of 'unknown's poem' I smiled where he/she wrote don't look back, you aren't going that way. What a neat statement!
