Chapter 5, Page 2, Book 18

Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.

William Arthur Ward

Begin…and end today with a Thank You

If the average person realized the power he wields over his life and destiny, he would live in a perpetual state of wonder and thanksgiving.

Earl Nightingale

Just about all of my morning devotionals and meditations for today were about gratitude and so I figured I was being prompted to write about thankfulness today.  I do keep a list of what I’m thankful for every day and for today I’m thankful for:

5939. for my precious family
5940. for all life, new and amazing
5941. for hope and happiness

For what has been —thanks!  For what shall be — yes!

Dag Hammarskjold

There is nothing much that an attitude of gratitude won’t fix.  If I’m worried or sad, I just count my blessings and find out that I’m too blessed to be stressed.  If I start to feel sorry for myself, I write down what I am thankful for and find I have much more than I could possibly need.

Giving thanks for what you have makes you content and happy.  Gratitude reduces feelings of envy, makes our memories happier and lets us experience good feelings.

The benefits of being grateful are nearly endless.

Cultivate an attitude of gratitude, of giving a forgiving.  Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

I love those little God winks ... your gentle prompts to write about gratitude!
Concerned about one of my pup's health, I'd a restless and worrisome night. Finally towards daybreak I began to mentally recite my blessings. It works!

PS - And Macie's better... yay!

It is always good to write down what we are thankful for and to also write down how much God has been with us during times of hardship, etc. Good reminders that we truly are blessed. Practicing gratitude is a great way to have a healthy, blessed life.

It's been a balancing act the past few weeks for us. Staying focused on our blessings, waiting for news, and outcomes. We finally received good news for our granddaughter who was brutally assaulted. The court case was in her favor, and the young man will serve a sentence...which is unheard of for a minor. On the same day (yesterday) my oldest daughter received the news that the mass in her hand is aggressive, and needs to go in on Thursday for a consultation with a surgeon because it has eaten the bone, and it needs attention ASAP. We are staying positive, and staying thankful...knowing God is in control. Whatever the outcome, I HAVE to keep believing!!!

I just love Emerson and Nightengale. You pick some fantastic quotes to work around. You always do a good job of it.
