Chapter 5, Page 16, Book 18

The comfortable and comforting people are those who look upon the bight side of life; gather its roses and sunshine making the most that happens seem the best.

Dorothy Dix

Life is like a garden, tend it with care.

Life is like a garden.  Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved except in memory.

Leonard Nimoy

While I don't do much gardening any more, I did manage to get out yesterday and get some flowers and herbs to plant in the flower boxes here.  This got me to thinking about how much our life is like a garden.  We are given a little piece of ground, our lives, to work with .  No two gardens are a like.  Each one comes with different soil, different seeds and a different climate.

All we can do is create the best possible conditions in our garden, plant the right seeds and give those seeds the care and attention they need.  Then trust that nature will take care of the rest.

If we make our goal to live a life of compassion and unconditional love, then the world will indeed become a garden where all kinds of flowers can bloom and grow.

Elisabeth Keebler Ross

Truth is all gardens increase in health and beauty proportionate to the love and care they are given.  Seeds will not grow if the soil is too dry and hard.

That’s why it’s essential that there is a great deal of love and care that goes into a beautiful garden.

Life is like a beautiful garden, remember to pull the weeds and water the flowers.

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy - they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.

Marcel Proust

Great analogy with gardens and life. We do need to tend our lives; get rid of the weeds, make sure we have plenty of sunshine and water to nourish ourselves in the way we need to in order to live a happy, grateful, productive life :)

I need to share this with my DIL. Why, her 'green thumb' is practically emerald - seemingly without effort. I'm practically the opposite... but am celebrating a two-month old split leaf philodendron that's still living and actually thriving. Like you've said, I need to just relax and trust nature.

I like the way you related it to life - if you don't take care of your life - it will look like and feel like an abandoned garden!
