Chapter 1, Page 29, Book 18

New Year Day #29

Life is to be fortified by many friendships. To love, and be loved, is the greatest happiness of existence.

Sydney Smith

Friendship is one of the greatest joys of life.  Over the years I’ve had many friends.  Some go and some stay, but all have been an important part of my life.  Some of my family are also my friends and some of my friends are like family.   Having good friends that love and support you for who you are is really important to your happiness.

Best friends make the good times better and the hard times easier.

Author Unknown

My friends, my faith and my family are the three most important things in my life.  And each is  necessary part of who and what I am.  Each is essential to my happiness.

We should never take our friends for granted and let them know as often as we can just how important they are in our lives.

A friends knows the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Donna Roberts

It’s not the number of friends that you have, it’s the quality of close relationships that matters.  Some of my best friends are those that I can go years without seeing and still feel like other has changed when we reconnect.  Friends inspire and encourage us, lend support and lift us up.

Remember, we all stumble, every one of us.  That’s why it’s a comfort to go hand in hand.

I have learned something that shocked me, even disappointed me. But learning that my friends seems to mean more to me than I to them bothered me at first. Until I realized they had more friends that they needed more. That probably isn't explained correctly I am sure. But I have learned to accept that fact. I needed them, they filled something in my life that cannot be replaced. They were VERY SPECIAL to me, that is what counts.

PS: I meant to word that last sentence to include 'are': They were and ARE VERY SPECIAL TO ME, and that is what counts.

I can SO identify with what you've written today, Ma. It's so true, I'd rather have a few close friends than dozens of acquaintances. Maybe because I'd no siblings, the friendships I've developed mean more to me than gemstones.

I will tell you the truth - my friends are gifts from God here on earth.

you are right it's the quality of the friendships you have that matter. "A friends knows the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails."
