Chapter 1, Page 26, Book 18

New Year Day #26

An entire sea of water can’t sink a ship
unless it gets inside the ship.
Similarly,
the negativity of the world can’t put you down
unless you allow it to get inside you.

It is truly sad how easy it is to be negative in a world where there is so much to be positive and happy about.  Life is too short to put up with negativity and not see the positive in every situation.

They say that people are much nicer when they’re happier, which says a lot about those who aren’t very nice to us.  Sad, but true.  The way we treat people we disagree with is a report card on what we’ve learned about love, compassion and kindness.

Remember that nobody can make you unhappy, no situation can make you sad or miserable unless you allow it to. It’s not the situation that triggers those feelings in you, but how you choose to look at it.  Live your life and ignore the negativity.

I found these wise words of advice in an article I read recently:

Instill more love into this world.

Love what you do, until you can do what you love.

Love where you are, until you can be where you love.

And, above all, love the people you are with, until you can be with the people you love most.

Fewer judgments.  Less resistance.  More love.

Ultimately, this is the way we find happiness, opportunity, and peace in life.

The best way of removing negativity is to laugh and be joyous.

Lots of wisdom here today. It can be very difficult to remain positive in the midst of a sea of negativity, but to succumb to the negativity would sink our own proverbial ship.

How ironic! Just a few hours ago I was writing a friend, saying we're "doing our best to keep water out of (our proverbial) boat." Paddling furiously, but there's a smile on my face!
