Chapter 1, Page 25, Book 18

New Year Day # 25

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self centered.
 Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.
Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.
Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today will often be forgotten.
Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.
Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.  It was never between you and them anyway.

Mother Teresa

There's a simple secret to achieving happiness, balance, and better health: letting go of past hurts and absolving the people who've caused them

Happy people understand that it's better to forgive and forget than to let their negative feelings crowd out their positive feelings.
Forgiveness comes from within, and even though sometimes it may seem difficult to forgive when you finally do it, you will feel lighter, happier and more liberated than you’ve ever felt before.

A lack of forgiveness lies at the heart of many problems; learning to let it go, thereby releasing you from its prison, can only result in one thing - happiness.

To forgive is the highest, most beautiful form of love. In return, you will receive untold peace and happiness.

Robert Muller

Forgiveness is an important part of a happy life. It can be hard to forgive yourself and others, but you will never be happy if you feel hatred. Learn how to forgive people around you and cultivate gratitude each day. It’s the key to enormous happiness!

Forgiveness is a funny thing. It warms the heart and cools the sting.

William Arthur Ward

WE do tend to forget that apologies and forgiveness is for us, no them.

I know this is true but forgiveness sometimes comes slowly.

That last line of Mother Teresa's quote is splendid!
I still struggle with forgiving -- in particular, accepting my own forgiveness. But I'm working on it every day. :)
