Chapter 1, Page 24, Book 18

A man has to live with himself, and he should see to it that he always has good company.

Charles Evans Hughes

Since I live alone, I am often my own best company.   I can also be my own worst enemy.  Truth is that it’s always best to be on good terms with yourself.  We need to treat ourselves with the respect, admiration and pride we would with any other best friend

If I didn’t like myself, I’d be pretty miserable most of the time, but thankfully I don’t rely on the presence of others to make me happy.

Let's face it, the relationship we have with ourselves is the longest lasting relationship we will ever have and the most important.  Over the years I’ve learned that it is important to be  your own best friend and love yourself in order to be there and care for others to. We cannot be good for others if we aren’t first good to ourselves.

Although I am blessed with some very special people in my life, I can exist and be happy by myself too.   We should never rely on others to make us happy.  Happiness comes with in each of us.  Happiness is an inside job.

The world is a looking glass, and gives back to every man the reflection of his own face.  Frown at it, and it will look sourly upon; laugh at it and with it, and it is a jolly, kind companion.

 William Thackeray

Ah ha! HAPPINESS IS AN INSIDE JOB! TO Rephrase an old song, "There you said it again, to There you've done it again." Now I gotta love that statement! good stuff lady. It is definitely a good thing to enjoy yourself!

So true, we can't be any good to others if we don't take good care of ourselves.
Perhaps because I was raised an 'only' child, I'm really content by myself. In fact, after several 'single' years before Tom and I got together, I found 24/7 togetherness somewhat difficult. LOL!

it is true we should be our own best friend. "Truth is that it’s always best to be on good terms with yourself."
