Chapter 1, Page 1, Book 18

Lord, as the New Year dawns today,
Help me to put my faults away.
Let me be big in little things;
      Grant me the joy which friendship brings;
Keep me from selfishness and spite,
Let me be wise to what is right.
A Happy New Year! grant that I
May cause no tear to any eye.
When this new year in time shall end,
Let it be said: I've played the friend,
Have lived and loved and labored here
And made of it a happy year.
Edgar Guest

I don’t think any of us could want for much more that what the wonderful prayer above suggests.  To make a happy New Year will not always be easy for any of us, but if we want one, we can make one.  If we but try, it will be a happy year for all.

We all know that while circumstances may not always be good,  whatever happens, it’s up to us to keep a good attitude that can change the darkest day into one bright and happy.

My watch word for this New Year 2018 is HAPPY.  A watch word is one we choose because it is what we hope for and where we want to put our focus.

January First.—Another page turned. Another milestone reached on the King's Highway. Another year beginning with its hidden store of joy and sorrow.... Let Hope reign on New Year's Day.

Helen Rose Anne Milman Crofton

My wish for you this New Year:

I wish for you to experience happiness you've only dreamt about. I hope you spend more time laughing, even if it's just you alone in your car laughing at a memory or a funny thought.   I hope you laugh at yourself from time to time.   I hope you realize that laughter will give you positive energy which will lead to a happier life.  I hope you laugh. You deserve happiness!

I hope 2018 is fun, exciting, and wonderful!
Live, Laugh and Love! Be HAPPY!

Happy New Year !

We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.

Edgar Guest says it best! one of my favorite authors. He does say it succinctly.
WE HAVE MUCH NEEDED RAIN HERE, it is going to be a good year. We are blessed to be alive for such a time.
Love from Florida, and a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I, too, love Mr. Guest's prayer/poem.
"HAPPY" is a great watch word! (Were I honest, mine would have to be ANXIETY ... but I'm hoping to overcome that.)

Laughing at myself is something I do all the time. One good thing about commuting in the dark, no-one can see me!

“May you always be blessed with walls for the wind. A roof for the rain. A warm cup of tea by the fire. Laughter to cheer you. Those you love near you. And all that your heart might desire.”
—Irish Proverb

Another page has turned. "The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day. "

I remember that first line from Sunday School in the early 1940's! I heard it most of my life, I don't hear it anymore! Thanks for the reminder.
