Chapter 11, Page 18, Book 17

In life, you will realize
there is a role for everyone you meet.

Some will test you, some will use you,
some will love you, and some will teach you.

But the ones who are truly important
are the ones who bring out the best in you.

They are the rare and amazing people
who remind you why it’s worth it.

Today I am thankful for mentors

For every one of us that succeeds, it's because there's somebody there to show you the way out.

 Oprah Winfrey

Throughout our lives we will find people who make impacts in meaningful ways. Their wisdom and knowledge comes from their own experiences that they willingly share to benefit others.

My maternal grandmother was and still is my hero.  In many ways she was my mentor as she taught me a lot about life.  She didn’t always have a lot to say but I learned from her by watching how she lived.  Both in action and deed she proved to be a wonderful woman doing the best she could with what she had to live a great life.

If we could sell our experiences for what they cost us, we'd all be millionaires

Abigail Van Buren

Mentors inspire and guide others to achieve their goals. Imagine helping someone do something they would not attempt to do without your guidance. By encouraging and nurturing others we can make a an impact in many meaningful ways.  Sharing wisdom and knowledge from our own experiences can benefit others.

Find a mentor, be a mentor. Share... How much are you worth? Millions. And your value increases with time.

It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

I have learned a lot from the various mentors of my life. I have enjoyed being mentors to others and helping them navigate life. Essential indeed to be a mentor and to have a mentor.

After reading the blog entry. I could see your Grandmother. My mind went back to old Mrs Unknown's words that are so true and I never thought of it this way, but I am leaning.

Some will test you, some will use you,
some will love you, and some will teach you.

Now ain't that the truth!

Like Jack, "Ms. Unknown's" piece has struck a chord. What memories it evokes!

I can't imagine having anything to mentor anyone about (except to serve as a bad example - lol). But I'll never forget my Life History Writing coach who encouraged me and built my esteem ... then died prematurely. I can't help wonder what more Marsha Davis would have taught me.

mentors are a precious commodity, for sure.
