Chapter 11, Page 1, Book 17

When you want what you’ve got and you’re grateful for what you’ve got, that’s true prosperity

Elkhart Tolle

November 1st

November is known as Be Thankful Month.  In keeping with what has become annual tradition, I’m celebrating the whole month of November with quotes, stories, poems and thoughts on Thankfulness.  There are so many things to be thankful for and ways to show thankfulness that it deserves a whole month of celebration.

You can express your gratitude in so many ways. You can write down the things that you’re thankful for in your journal. Also when you take notice of something you like, when you celebrate something positive or when you remember a good event these are all expressions of gratitude.

The year has turned its circle,
The seasons come and go.
The harvest all is gathered in
And chilly north winds blow.
Orchards have shared their treasures,
The fields, their yellow grain,
So open wide the doorway-
Thanksgiving comes again!

One of the greatest forms of gratitude is to give a heartfelt thank you to someone else. And the person doesn’t necessarily have to know you personally or even be alive.

It has been said that grateful people tend to be more alert, enthusiastic and optimistic. Research shows that grateful people also reported fewer physical ailments and were more willing to help others.

I do keep a list of my blessings each day for which I am thankful and have been doing so for many years.

Today I’m thankful for

5398. for the little extra, that makes a big difference
5399. for time to remember and give thanks
5400. for all those we’ve loved and lost, may they rest in peace

This November, as in the past, I hope to Be Thankful and also to Look for those Joyful Moments in each day.  Every day may not be a good one, but there is some thing good to be found in everyday if we look for it.

T   hanks for time to be together, turkey, talk, and tangy weather.
H  for harvest stored away, home, and hearth, and holiday.
A  for autumn's frosty art, and abundance in the heart.
N  for neighbors, and November, nice things, new things to remember.
K  for kitchen, kettles' croon, kith and kin expected soon.
S  for sizzles, sights, and sounds, and something special that about.
That spells THANKS for joy in living and a jolly good Thanksgiving.

I can't believe it's November already, time sure does fly. It's definitely a good month to take a little extra time to dedicate to being thankful!

It's almost impossible to be grumpy when there's thankfulness in your heart. We just have to be more aware. Like you say, there's always something good to be found... sometimes, we just have to look a little harder to find it.
