Chapter 10, Page 8, Book 17

Our necessities never equal our wants.

Benjamin Franklin

Living in a consumer culture makes it hard sometimes for us to distinguish between our wants and our needs

Our necessities are few, but our wants are endless.

George Bernard Shaw

Need: Something you have to have
Want: Something you would like to have

When we keep our priorities straight we’ll find that when you are content with what you have, You’ll have every thing you need.

Sometimes we so focused on that we want, we miss the things we need

We only need four things to survive:

A roof over your head
Enough food and water to maintain your health
Basic health care and hygiene products
Clothing — just what you need to remain comfortable and appropriately dressed

Everything else is icing on the cake!

God says he will provide our needs, but never said anything about our wants. Having those 4 items you mentioned of needs is truly a blessing indeed.

Amen! We won't go without (basics), but anymore when I get to thinking I want something, I'm quick to remind myself, "You don't need that." At the end of the day, it's just STUFF.

I like this. It reminds me of something I either read here or some other place with good philosophy. It was The wealthiest person is the one who NEEDS LESS! It doesn't sound so profound as I read it, but it hit me as REAL when I read it.

Wanting and needing are two different things for sure. "Sometimes we so focused on that we want, we miss the things we need."
