Chapter 9, Page 26, Book 17

How We Spend Our Days Is How We Spend Our Lives

Annie Dillard

what we do EVERY day defines us

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.

Will Durant

We are a sum of all of our life's experiences.  The way in which we react to everything that happens around us determines the quality of our lives.

Our lives are not defined by the things we possess, our lives are defined by the things we pursue.  No matter the current circumstances of our lives, we can choose to pursue anything we desire. We can define our lives by our decisions each morning.  When we  choose to pursue things of lasting value and significance, we can find lasting fulfillment and purpose regardless of how much we possess.

Pursue beauty, faith, hope, love, justice, significance, and contribution. Pursue opportunity to improve this world for somebody else. And realize that our lives are too valuable to waste chasing possessions.

Choices are the building blocks of our lives and despite all the mistakes one makes, a new day brings with itself new opportunities and a whole new world of choices.

Remember that the choice is yours. It has always been.

The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live.

So true about the doors we open and close define our days. We do have that choice of what to open and close.

I love Anne Dillard. That quote you use at the beginning of your blog is priceless.

Oh yes, I agree with you and like how you covered this. Many folk seem to think they have no control over their lives, but we all decide how we run this race and pursue LIFE!

In the end, it's all about choices. Isn't it?
Only a year ago, I was driving into work each morning feeling hopeless and full of despair. ('Sounds almost melodramatic, doesn't it? *lol*) Nevertheless, I'd committed to providing a standard of living and most importantly, INSURANCE.
Now, there's a light at the end of the tunnel and I'm eager for the new year, eager to stop compromising and, as Jack puts it, start pursuing LIFE!
