Chapter 9, Page 21, Book 17

A Prayer for World Peace

We pray for the power to be gentle;
the strength to be forgiving;
the patience to be understanding;
and the endurance to accept the consequences
of holding on to what we believe to be right.

May we put our trust in the power of good to overcome evil
and the power of love to overcome hatred.

We pray for the vision to see and the faith to believe
in a world emancipated from violence,
a new world where fear shall no longer lead men or women to commit injustice, nor selfishness make them bring suffering to others.

Help us to devote our whole life and thought and energy
to the task of making peace,
praying always for the inspiration and the power
to fulfill the destiny for which we and all men and women were created.

Amen.

Rulers are powerful, but prayer has more power

For kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.

1 Timothy 2:2

Five minutes of Prayer for those in Power.  I’ve been asked to commit to praying for those in power.  In these troubled times we live in I thought it worth sharing the thought with all of you.  No matter your religious choice, I think most take time to pray.

We may not like our government leaders but they are the ones in charge of our country so rather than ignoring them or badmouthing them, our time can be better spent in praying for them.

Make no mistake about it Prayer is powerful.  There is power in prayer.

We can pray for those in authority to make wise, cooperative and compassionate decisions and pray for change and a peaceful resolutions to the conflicts around the world.

More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.

Alfred Lord Tennyson

I like that thought of 5 minutes prayer for those in power. I do pray for leaders, but not for 5minutes. Might give that a try?

The country is so divided and so mean - I wish we could pull together as one and make the county great again - that is one of my prayers.

I love the idea of praying for ALL our leaders. You're right, of course; and I love what Chatty said. Badmouthing anyone won't solve a thing ... except to alienate those who disagree with you.
