Chapter 8, Page 19, Book 17

We rise by lifting others.

Robert Ingersoll

You have two hands:  one for helping yourself and one for helping others

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it's at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others.

Audrey Hepburn

Sad but true, we all have bad days. Life is always throwing curve balls at us. Reaching out to someone on one of these days can totally turn their day around. Everyone has something meaningful to give, and when you do that, you feel better about yourself.

Our actions have the ability to lift others up or tear them down. We often don’t realize what an impact we are making, but make an impact, we do, when we pour out love.

Down in their hearts, wise men know this truth: the only way to help yourself is to help others.

Elbert Hubbard

I found a little story that gave me a lift today so I thought I’d share it with you in hopes it might give a little lift too!

A little silver haired lady calls her neighbor and says, Please come over here and help me. I have a neat jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get started.

Her neighbor asks, What is it supposed to be when it's finished?

The little silver haired lady says, According to the picture on the box, it's a rooster.

Her neighbor decides to go over and help with the puzzle.

She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster.

He takes her hand and says, Secondly, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then,  he said with a deep sigh ............

Let's put all the Corn Flakes back in the box.

There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.

 John Holmes

We're human. We need food. We need meaning and connection. And we most definitely need encouragement.

Lift, Laugh and Love and if that doesn’t work…love some more !

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.

Dr. Seuss

What a cute story you shared with us today :) I do agree we all need encouragement, especially during those tough times we are going through.

I feel better when I help someone. I feel good when I help myself. Of course helping someone else gives an inner smile and that 'feel good' feeling.

That's such a cute story about the corn flakes!

This called to mind two unsolicited acts of kindness I received oh, a long time ago. I can't think of anything in particular, but I'm pretty sure they prompted me to pay it forward, however small.
