Chapter 12, Page 9, Book 16

♥ ¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪ It’s the Most Wonderful Season of All♥ ¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪

Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.

Keeping Christmas well.

Keeping Christmas well means paying close attention, not only to what happened at Christmas, but especially to its meaning. In truth, Christmas changes everything, including how you and I might live each day.

There’s a lot of pressure to make the Christmas season perfect and to cram it with events, shopping, and parties. But I find that some of the simplest pleasures can make the season bright and fill me with the joy and wonder of Christmas.  Here’s just a few of my simple pleasures:

Begin with gratitude. Before you begin handing out the gifts and tearing in to them, take a moment to reflect on all of your blessings since last Christmas. Write them down. Look at all of the good you have in your life and be grateful.

Listen to beautiful music. Everyone has their favorite holiday music, and it creates background mood for the holidays. Consider music that is peaceful and soothing to bring calm during this hectic time of year.

Create and sustain traditions. Traditions during the holidays make us feel connected to one another and to something larger than ourselves. They offer a sense of certainty and comfort.

Light candles. The glow of candlelight creates magic and warmth. Light them at dinner, and on the mantle.

Take a drive or a walk. Get in the car and take a drive just to look at the holiday lights and decorations. Or simple walk around your neighborhood. Carry a mug of hot chocolate and a box of homemade cookies with you and make it an occasion.  The house pictured at the top is of one of my son's homes all decorated with lights.

This December,

That love weighs more than gold!

Christmas isn’t about material things. Find other ways to feel rich instead. By your actions, you can make the holidays a truly memorable celebration of life, love and family.

I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.

Love the picture of your family, Ma! It is the simple things of Christmas that bring the most joy I do believe. Son is going to show his stepdaughter how to make paper chains this weekend out of construction paper. I bet that will be a blast!

Your son's home looks like something out of a Hallmark movie! Good, decent, and inviting.

That paragraph your wrote (about) Gratitude? I'm going to do that this Christmas Eve when it's just DH and me. He's been battling depression off and on, so I love this suggestion.
