It takes hands to build a house, but only hearts can build a home.

Chapter 5, Page 31, Book 16

Some days are better, some days are worse. Look for the blessing instead of the curse. Be positive, stay strong, and get enough rest. You can’t do it all, but you can do your best.

Author Unknown

May 31st - expecting the worse and receiving the best

Never bear more than one kind of trouble at a time. Some people bear three kinds; all they have had, all they have now, and all they expect to have.

Edward Everett Hale

Sometimes when you’ve had a long series of disappointing things happen, you can get into the very bad habit of just expecting more of what you’ve already had.

I’ve learned that things don’t always turn out the way we plan them, but sometimes it is for the best.  It’s always a joy when something unexpected happens that makes us happy.

This is the precept by which I have lived: Prepare for the worst; expect the best; and take what comes.

Chapter 5, Page 30, Book 16

What is there to do when people die -- people so dear and rare -- but bring them back by remembering.

May Sarton.

May 30th - Remember

I do believe that those we love never really leave us as they are in close by in our hearts where we keep them.

Memorial Day is a time of Remembrance

We honor servicemen and women who have died in war in the U.S. and every country where Americans are buried. We celebrate these people who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom, what Abraham Lincoln called that 'last full measure of devotion’.  It's day to celebrate sacrifice, honor and courage.
The life of the dead lives on in the memory of the living.

Marcus Tullius Cicero

We fondly remember all those we have loved and lost but will never forget.

With thanks, with memories, and in the hope that peace will soon prevail, on this Memorial Day, please join me in a prayer for peace.

Lord, make me a channel of thy peace.
That where there is hatred I may bring love,
That where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness,
That where there is discord, I may bring harmony,
That where there is error I may bring truth,
That where there is doubt I may bring faith,
That where there is despair I may bring hope,
That where there are shadows I may bring light,
That where there is sadness I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted,
To understand than to be understood,
To love than to be loved.
For it is by forgetting self that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven,
it is by dying that one awakens to eternal life.

Chapter 5, Page 29, Book 16

Grab your coat, and get your hat
Leave your worry on the doorstep
Just direct your feet
To the sunny side of the street.

Dorothy Fields

May 29th - flower power

The flower that follows the sun does so even on cloudy days

Robert Leighton

Did you ever notice how flowers follow the motion of the sun, bending to find the light they need for growth.  As the sun continues its journey throughout the day, the flower follows the sun’s movement.  At the end of the day, the flower faces west as it says goodbye to the sun as it sets.

I think sunflowers are so pretty. I love their yellow and gold tones in their coloring, but they also stand so tall and majestic looking too.The Sunflower has recently been adopted as a symbol of happiness, strength, a love of the sun and sunlight and ... it is said to always turn its face to the sun

So always look for the silver lining
And try to find the sunny side of life

P. G. Wodehouse

Live like a flower and embrace the sunny side of life!

Sunflowers not only follow the sun but when you look at them, they resemble the sun too.  Just like flowers need light, people need happy thoughts and moments to grow. The more you generate inner sunshine and spread happiness, the more joyful you will feel as well.

Look at the sunny side of everything.
Have a Good Day!

Chapter 5, Page 28, Book 16

Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
With every step I take,
Let this be my solemn vow:
To take each moment
And live each moment
In peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me

Seymour Miller and Jill Jackson

May 28th - Peace begins with me

The less you respond to negativity, the more peaceful your life becomes.

Author Unknown

I think we’d all like to live a peace filled life.  Peace is a choice and it’s ours for the taking. Peace is always available, and like any desirable state of mind, it requires effort, even if that effort entails consciously choosing to be still.

For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

There are countless things we can do to create peace of mind in response to events in our lives everyday.   We need to focus on what we appreciate about the things and people in our life instead of wishing they would change.

Life is under no obligation to give you exactly what you expect.  Whatever it is you’re seeking will rarely ever come in the form you’re expecting.  Don’t miss the silver lining because you were expecting gold.

You must see and accept things as they are instead of as you hoped, wished, or expected them to be.  Just because it didn’t turn out like you had envisioned, doesn’t mean it isn’t exactly what you need to get to where you ultimately want to go.

If you want peace, stop fighting. If you want peace of mind, stop fighting with your thoughts.

Peter McWilliams

A wise man once said, Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.  Each and every day is a new beginning; treat it that way.  Stop thinking about what might have been and starting looking at what can be.

Take a moment to pause and remember who you truly are. Take the time to reflect on the things that have real and lasting meaning in your life.

And so, peace of mind is the most important key to peace on earth. It is our strength to be peacemakers. It is our reward as peacemakers. It is the beginning and the end of the riddle. Inner peace is the secret of happiness and fulfillment. It is a reason for living, and the strength to share life, love and the hope of peace on earth.

Chapter 5, Page 27, Book 16

Just Close Your Eyes

Just close your Eyes and open your heart,
And feel your worries and cares depart.
Just yield yourself to the Father above,
And let him hold you secure in his love.

For life on earth grows more involved,
With endless problems that can't be solved,
But God only ask us to do our best,
Then he will take over and finish the rest...

So when you are tired, discouraged and blue,
There is always one door that is open to you,
And that is the door to The House of Prayer,
And you'll find God waiting to meet you there.

And The House of Prayer is no further away,
than the quiet spot where you kneel and pray.
For the heart is a temple when God is there
As we place ourselves in his loving care.

And he hears every prayer and answers each one
When we Pray in His name - Thy will be done.
The burdens that seemed too heavy to bear
Are lifted away on the wings of a prayer.

 Helen Steiner Rice

May 27th - Pray Always, Don’t Lose Heart

In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart.

John Bunyan

I believe that God answers prayer in the best way, not just sometimes, but every time. However, the evidence of the answer in the area we want it may not always immediately follow.

Beware of anything that stops the offering up of prayer. To lose heart is to become discouraged.  The problem for most of us is that our timetable is not on par with God’s timetable.  Our agenda is not God’s agenda.  And so we become impatient.  We lose heart, because we don’t get what we want when we want it.   If we lose heart, we have lost everything.

It often seems that when we least desire prayer is when we most need prayer.  No matter how great or noble, anything in this life that can be achieved without prayer is not worth chasing after.

Prayer is designed to keep us strong, to keep us from losing heart, from becoming discouraged.  The life of faith is a marathon. The ups, the downs, and the plateaus in our prayer life are a reflection of this race. And just as in a marathon we need to keep running, so we keep praying. The point is: Don’t give up!

Please remember :  Prayer is not a magic wand! It strengthens faith in the tough times.

Chapter 5, Page 26, Book 16

Life is a series of steps. Things are done gradually. Once in a while there is a giant step, but most of the time we are taking small, seemingly insignificant steps on the stairway of life.

Ralph Ransom

May 26th - little steps every day

Start as small as you can. And do that small thing every day.

We can get overwhelmed with all the things we have to do to reach our goals.  There are times I’ve thought that I’m not good enough to be the person I would like to be. But I’ve found that all we ever have is this moment and we can only take one step or moment at a time.

If we enjoyed the journey more and remembered to slow down and take time out to to realized what is most important, we’d find our goals attainable taking one step at a time.

Step with care and great tact, and remember that Life’s a great balancing act.

Dr. Seuss

Every moment of your life builds upon the next.  I think there is always room for improvement. One thing always leads to another and for me I want to be a better person.

Always remember that if you’re able to not speak ill of another, you’re on the right path. If you want to criticize a neighbor, a workmate,  bite your tongue a bit.

Do not go back, but always moving forward and with fortitude

Take small steps every day and one day you will get there

Chapter 5, Page 25, Book 16

Sultry, steaming, sweltering. . . .Slow down.  Or stop.  It's time to shed ambition and expectation, along with commutes, clothing, cellular phones, calendars.  Now our wants seem to diminish.  Is it because our needs are met?  A shady nook, a cold drink, a cool breeze--whether indoors or out.  A respite from the rigors of the day.  Time off for good behavior.  Summer is not so much a season as a melody, that tune of contentment we hum as the days begin to beautifully blur.  The pursuit of happiness becomes our personal priority this month, as the sweet strains of . . . Harmony start to be heard in our hearts.

Sarah Ban Breathnach

May 25th -  a taste of summer

All green and fair the summer lies,
Just budded from the bud of spring,
With tender blue of wistful skies,
And winds that softly sing.

Susan Coolidge

We here in northern Ohio are having a taste of summer here today.  It’s been a long time since we had temps near 80 degrees.  We actually had a milder winter than usual and I’m thankful for that.  However it seemed to go on and on and we even had some snow in May this year.  It’s been below normal temp wise for us so this warm spell we are experiencing is a welcome relief.

It won’t be officially summer for a few weeks yet and Memorial Day weekend is very iffy with rain in the forecast, but we’ll be warmer here and that makes a huge difference.  I don’t think that those that live in southern climes, really appreciate the warm weather they have.  If you don’t experience winter, you can’t really appreciate summer the way we do.  Summertime is a short season for us.  We have few sunny days compared to the many dark and dreary ones.  Many take a Vitamin D supplement due to the lack of sunshine.

So whether or not it’s actually summer isn’t important.  What is important is that it is like summer.

In summer, the song sings itself.

Chapter 5, Page 24, Book 16

… Being thankful sweetens you, grumbling sours you; being thankful brings sunshine to your countenance, being ungrateful casts a shadow; being thankful brings a melody to your words, criticism makes you sound like a clanging cymbal; being thankful keeps your feet on the pathway of celebration, complaint takes you down the road of despair.

Roy Lessin

May 24th - I am a grateful person

Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.

Brian Tracy

Gratitude is more than saying 'Thank you' when someone gives you something. Gratitude is more than an action which we decide to do by an act of will power. You can say the words, thank you, when there is not gratitude in your heart at all. Custom may dictate that you say the words when you don't really appreciate what has been done for you. What it takes to turn the words, thank you into gratitude is the real genuine feeling of gratitude.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
Melody Beattie

Gratitude is a feeling that arises uncoerced in the heart. Gratitude is a form of delight.   Gratitude is a frame of mind rooted in grace.  An attitude of gratitude naturally leads to love, and repayment by acts of love.  The link between grace and gratitude runs like this: someone does a beneficial or helpful action that is beyond what was merited or expected, pure grace. Then someone responds by seeking to act in kind, gratitude. Gratitude flows from understanding how each of us is dependent on what others do, and treasuring each action of grace for all it's worth..

Gratitude helps you to grow and expands; gratitude brings you and laughter into your life and into the lives of all those around you.

Eileen Caddy

When your heart is grateful, when it is filled with love, that spills over.  It puts life into a different perspective.   We are to live gratefully; live largely, and live in love.

Today let your life be a song of grateful praise!

Gratefulness is the heart's response to God's undeserved love.

Chapter 5, Page 23, Book 16

All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.

Havelock Ellis

May 23rd - Let Go

We must learn to let go as easily as we grasp
or we will find our hands full and our minds empty.

Leo Buscaglia

With graduation time upon us, it made me think about my own children and how hard it was to let them go.

When watching a child get on the school bus, begin a new career, or start his or her own family is an exercise in letting go for the parent. We are proud of each step in their growth toward independence, yet we may find it difficult to give up control.

Whether a child, parent, spouse, or friend, they each have their own path to follow, and we need to take a breath and let go of the need to be in control. Through letting go and letting God, we allow our  loved ones to reach their highest potential.

Letting go doesn't mean that you don't care about someone anymore.
It's just realizing that the only person you really have control over is yourself.

May 22 -  Don’t wait

Don’t wait for things to get easier, simpler, better. Life will always be complicated. Learn to be happy right now. Otherwise, you’ll run out of time.

William Arthur Ward

Today is the only day that you get to choose what you will think, say, and do today. So enjoy yourself today because it is not coming back.

Chapter 5, Page 21, Book 16

I asked for wisdom...
And God gave me problems to solve.
I asked for prosperity...
And God gave me brains and the strength to work.
I asked for courage...
And God gave me danger to overcome.
I asked for love...
And God gave me troubled people to help.
I asked for favors...
And God gave me opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted.
I received everything I needed.
My Prayer has been answered.

May 21st - wealth and prosperity

The secret of happiness and prosperity in this world, as in the world to come, lies in thinking of the welfare of others first, and not taking one's self too seriously.

J. Kindleberger

Prosperity usually means the type of success that comes from having a lot of money. Our modern English word derives from Middle English prosperite, borrowed through Old French from Latin prosperous ‘favorable’.  The Latin word also means fortunate, and the word prosperity does have an element of good luck.

Prosperity also means to advance in life and to become successful. We need to remember that whether you are rich or poor, if you get happiness out of life you are a real success.  Living a prosperous life is about much more than just having enough money. It's a state of mind. You may have a lot of money and all the material goods that life has to offer, and still not be happy. There are people who are extremely wealthy, and yet they feel impoverished.  They have a lot of things, but they're lacking in other areas, and the money and stuff are never enough for them to feel fulfilled.

True prosperity is about appreciating what you have and feeling rich in any number of areas of your life.

Sending you all the very best of wishes for many many happy returns of the day. May God bless you with health, wealth and prosperity in your life.

Prosperity is not just having things. It is the consciousness that attracts the things. Prosperity is a way of living and thinking, and not just having money or things. Poverty is a way of living and thinking, and not just a lack of money or things.

Chapter 5, Page 20, Book 16

Today I Will Make A Difference

Today I will make a difference. I will begin by controlling my thoughts. A person is the product of his thoughts. I want to be happy and hopeful. Therefore, I will have thoughts that are happy and hopeful. I refuse to be victimized by my circumstances. I will not let petty inconveniences such as stoplights, long lines, and traffic jams be my masters. I will avoid negativism and gossip. Optimism will be my companion, and victory will be my hallmark. Today I will make a difference.

I will be grateful for the twenty four hours that are before me. Time is a precious commodity. I refuse to allow what little time I have to be contaminated by self pity, anxiety, or boredom. I will face this day with the joy of a child and the courage of a giant. I will drink each minute as though it is my last. When tomorrow comes, today will be gone forever. While it is here, I will use it for loving and giving. Today I will make a difference.

I will not let past failures haunt me. Even though my life is scarred with mistakes, I refuse to rummage through my trash heap of failures. I will admit them. I will correct them. I will press on. Victoriously. No failure is fatal. It's OK to stumble... I will get up. It's OK to fail... I will rise again. Today I will make a difference.

I will spend time with those I love. My spouse, my children, my family. A man can own the world but be poor for the lack of love. A man can own nothing and yet be wealthy in relationships. Today I will spend at least five minutes with the significant people in my world. Five quality minutes of talking or hugging or thanking or listening. Five undiluted minutes with my mate, children, and friends.

Today I will make a difference.

Even though my life is scarred with mistakes, I refuse to rummage through my trash heap of failure. I will admit them. I will correct them. I will press on.

 Max Lucado

May 20th - rise to the occasion

Everything negative - pressure, challenges - is all an opportunity for me to rise.

 Kobe Bryant

Rankings! Ratings! Polls! Surveys! Standings! Our culture thrives on these measures. We constantly argue about who is most important.  We have political approval polls, opinion polls, talk shows, sports standings, Most Valuable Players, Nielsen ratings of TV shows, Fortune 500 companies, and even TV shows which rank who is worthy to survive another week at the expense of eliminating someone else. We talk about who’s the greatest, who has the most wealth, the most votes, the most power to influence, and the most status.

If we stay rooted to the world of ego we will miss out on so much. The world of ego means that we just think exclusively about ourselves. Lots of ego says that everything should, must and has to evolve around us. We want and need to be #1. Instead of reaching out this is only reaching in and means we are closed to blessings around us. It can never lead to meaning and fulfillment in life.

When we compare ourselves to others, sometimes we get to feeling like we are the lowest of the lowest on the totem pole there are so many that have so much more than we do, but the truth is that we really do have all we need to be the best we can be.  To rise to the occasions in our life is to put aside those feelings and simply be the person we were made to be.

Your Life is an Occasion. Rise to it.

Chapter 5, Page 19, Book 16

To love abundantly is to live abundantly, and to love forever is to live forever.

Henry Drummond

May 19th - love lives forever

Most of the things we devote our time and energy to are things that will pass away, things that will not last. We strive to make money, build businesses, achieve great accomplishments, be popular, own buildings, cars, and jewelry. We want to expand our minds and see the world, yet all of these things are temporary. They will all come to an end.

Even as we deeply love family members and close friends, there are times when their actions and words may not be loveable and we are challenged to react in a loving way.  For the most part, we do remember how much we love them and can get beyond the issues at that time.  The greater challenge, for me at least, is to always show that love to others, to strangers, to those who do not want to be friends or even friendly.

Only love never comes to an end. An act of love goes on and endures forever.

Chapter 5, Page 18, Book 16

Another day is dawning
Another day's begun
Another day to turn to God
And pray, Thy will be done

A day to slay doubt's dragon,
To know within your soul
That as you give yourself to Him
He'll bless and make you whole.

A day to live with purpose
A day to show you care
When others turn to you distraught
Confused or in despair

A day to share God's blessings
In quiet countless ways
That touch the heart with hope and joy
And brighten cloudy days

A day for sweet rejoicing
For gratitude and praise
Because His love enfolds you
Both now, and all your days.

May 18th - no doubt about it

It is easier to believe than to doubt.

Everett D. Martin

Since you can choose your own thoughts, when doubt comes, you can learn to recognize it for what it is, say, No, thank you, and keep on believing!

Like fear, joy, and sadness, doubt is part of human nature, and it needs understanding. Doubt can tower over us, an imposing darkness that makes us afraid to move. Failure and rejection can feed Doubt until it grows into a monster.

When in doubt, don't.

Saul W. Kellerman

Choosing to slay the dragon of doubt with an attitude of kindness and serving, in action,  will  open up all kinds of wonderful possibilities for you each day.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest! If you must-but never quit.
Life is queer, with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might of won if he'd stuck it out;
Stick to your task, though the pace seems slows-
You may succeed with one more blow.
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you may never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
It's when things seem worse that you must not quit.

Keep believing, don't doubt, just believe!

Chapter 5, Page 17, Book 16

The past has no power over the present moment.

Eckhart Tolle

May 17th - learning to forgive and move on with a smile

To err is human; to forgive, divine.

 Alexander Pope

These words are a gentle reminder that in our humanness, we will more than likely make mistakes and that we have it within us to forgive the situation and move forward.

There is great value in every act of forgiveness.  You can forgive yourself, you can forgive others, and you can forgive even when you don’t know exactly who to forgive, because forgiveness is not about who is to blame or who is at fault.  It is about letting go, completely and permanently within yourself.

Feeling sorry for yourself and sabotaging the present moment with resentful thoughts of the past won’t make anything better.  Hurting someone else will never ease your own feelings.

The way beyond the pain from the past is not with vengeance, mockery, bullying or retaliation, but with love. Forgive the past, forgive yourself, forgive others, and love the present moment for what it’s worth.

Forgiveness is not always easy. At times, it feels more painful than the wound we suffered, to forgive the one that inflicted it. And yet, there is no peace without forgiveness.

Marianne Williamson

Chapter 5, Page 16, Book 16

Don't be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

Dale Carnegie

May 16th - doing a little means a lot

Don't give up. There are too many out there who will try to discourage you. Don't listen to them. The only one who can make you give up is yourself.

Sidney Sheldon

The key  is to believe in our own ability is to consistently do the small things well, to ignore those who don't believe in you, to let your light shine and to always be your best.

The old story of the stonecutter sums it up well. The stonecutter patiently works away on a large piece of rock with a hammer. Blow after blow the stonecutter works away and nothing seems to be happening. A hundred blows and still nothing is happening. But on the hundred and first try the stone would crack. With that crack the stonecutter knew it wasn't that blow that did it but the cumulative effect of the hundred blows before it.

When nothing seems to be happening for us it can be very discouraging. We are encouraged to keep going because every effort is never wasted. Once our mind set at the start of each day is to do our best and to be our best, then we are in a very good place.

Never give up. Laugh a lot. Be good to others.

Chapter 5, Page 15, Book 16

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.

Robert Louis Stevenson

May 15th - consider the trees in life

The world's a forest, in which all lose their way; though by a different path each goes astray.

George Villiers

When someone can’t see the forest for the trees, it means they are so involved in the details of a problem that they can’t see the situation as a whole.  Our lives may be filled with the trees of trials or maybe just the trees of a busy schedule and concerns about our loved ones. But we can learn how to see the whole forest.

It’s remembering that our world is filled with God’s wonders and marvels. It’s the ability to enjoy the blessings of family and home that we do have rather than focusing on the things we may be lacking. Don’t get caught up in the details! Don’t let the ‘trees' wear you down! Make it a point every day to stand back and rejoice in all the blessings that have been given you.

Let’s take our hearts for a walk in the woods and listen to the magic whispers of old trees.

Chapter 5, Page 14, Book 16

An Irish Blessing

May your joys be as bright as the morning,
and your sorrows merely be shadows
that fade in the sunlight of love.
May you have enough happiness to keep you sweet,
Enough trials to keep you strong,
Enough sorrow to keep you human,
Enough hope to keep you happy,
Enough failure to keep you humble,
Enough success to keep you eager,
Enough friends to give you comfort,
Enough courage and faith in yourself to banish sadness,
Enough wealth to meet your needs,
And one more thing:
Enough determination to make each day
a more wonderful day than the one before

May 14th - May we all have just enough of what we need today!

I believe the recipe for happiness to be just enough money to pay the monthly bills you acquire, a little surplus to give you confidence, a little too much work each day, enthusiasm for your work, a substantial share of good health, a couple of real friends and a wife and children to share life’s beauty with you.

J. Kenfield Morley

I think that deep inside of us, we all know when enough is enough. We have enough time, money, food, and yet we still want more.  I remind myself that I don't have to have it all figured out today, but that I will have exactly what I need.

For today, I have enough emotional support to get through anything. I have enough material things, food, shelter, and the like. I have enough wisdom to make good decisions, or to ask for help if I need it.  I have enough time to go slowly and savor the moments of my life. I have enough love. I have enough.

Remember: Sometimes having just enough is truly all we really need.

Some Important Don'ts
author unknown

Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air.   You name them Work, Family, Health, Friends and Spirit, and you are keeping all of them in the air.   You will soon understand that Work is a rubber ball.  If you drop it, it will bounce back.  But the other four balls--Family, Health, Friends and Spirit--are made of glass.  If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered.  They will never be the same.  You must understand that and strive for balance in your life.

Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.  It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Don't set your goals by what others deem important.  Only you know what is best for you.

Don't take for granted the things closest to your heart.  Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.

Don't let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future.  By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life.
Don't give up when you still have something to give.  Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.

Don't be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect.  It is the fragile thread that binds us each together.

Don't be afraid to encounter risks.  It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.

Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find.  The quickest way to receive love is to give; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly; and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.

Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you've been, but also where you are going.

Don't forget that a person' s greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated.

Don't be afraid to learn.  Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can always carry easily.

Don't use time or words carelessly.  Neither can be retrieved.  Life is not a race , but a journey to be savoured each step of the way.

May 13th - Don’t do it…unless you want to be happy

There are some things in life that you just do, and don't do and I think the list above covered most of the don’ts.

Here are some more simple things happy people do and the things they don’t do, that can change the way you see things and live your life:

Do: Live in the present moment.
This moment is the only place you can feel alive, make changes, create your future, learn and grow, enjoy and appreciate.
It’s also where happiness is. Not later, not in past memories, right here and right now.

 Do: Let go.
Letting go means accepting, being alright with things and events, letting them be and moving on without carrying any burden to the next moment.

Don’t: Hold onto things.
We’re too attached to people, objects, bad habits, places and so on. We think about them too much, worry, want to be with that person, at that place, or else, constantly.

Do: Spend time with happy people.
Happiness can be spread and shared, and being surrounded by positive people, who appreciate everything they have, know how to enjoy life, are smiling all the time and have fun, is what will make you one of them.

Don’t: Be around the wrong people for too long.
If you find happy individuals and surround yourself with them daily, you’ll become contented with life too.

Do: What you love.
Find your passion and follow it. It’s one of the things that can give meaning to your life.

Don’t: Do things you hate.
Living like that leads to misery.

 Do: Accept.
Acceptance is the act of seeing things as they are and being okay with that. It means accepting yourself for who you are, and the people around you , the turn of events, and everything else.

Don’t: Change and control.

Our constant need to have control over all the stuff in our life and to change people, means we don’t like what is now. We put too much pressure in trying to ‘fix’ it. But this never works out and we end up being disappointed, upset and without hope.

If you start doing the dos and remember the don’ts, you’ll find happiness. And it will be a different kind of happiness, the one that brings ease, peace, appreciation and deep contentment.
