Chapter 9, Page 4, Book 15

Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh so mellow
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain so yellow
Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a young and a callow fellow
Try to remember and if you remember
Then follow--follow, oh-oh.

Try to Remember
Lyrics by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt

September 4th - love looks in the right place

Some people look for a beautiful place....
Others make a place beautiful.

I’m having such a hard time saying good bye to summer this year.  It’s been a terribly hot week and the next one isn’t showing much relief at all.  I want it to cool down, but I don’t want it so cool that I’ll need to turn the furnace on and sadly but surely that is what will come our way as fall advances.  Sometimes October and November can be very cold.

Because of my dilemma, wanting fall but not wanting summer to leave,  I started thinking about attitude .  It’s exciting to realize we can have some measure of control over our words, moods and attitudes by learning how to think better. We can make ourselves sad, mad or glad by what we think and how we talk. If you choose your thoughts carefully, your quality of life will improve in amazing ways.

Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits.

Samuel Butler

It’s our attitude toward each circumstance rather than the circumstance itself. We all  have the power to change our outlook. We can look out at life from our inmost being with our hearts filled with positive thoughts and attitudes, or we can allow the events of life to shape how we think and feel. This is a decision only we can make, no one can make it for us!

While I’m saying a bittersweet farewell to Summer, I’m going to fall in love with Fall !

The true beloveds of this world are in their lover's eyes lilacs opening, ship lights, school bells, a landscape, remembered conversations, friends, a child's Sunday, lost voices, one's favorite suit, autumn and all seasons, memory, yes, it being the earth and water of existence, memory.

Truman Capote

I like your attitude, Ma, about falling in love with fall :) So true we can change our outlook on things by working on our attitude!
