Chapter 12, Page 6, Book 14

Life is all about timing... the unreachable becomes reachable, the unavailable become available, the unattainable... attainable. Have the patience, wait it out It's all about timing.

Stacey Charter

Stop the clock: Slow down and savor the true beauty of the season.  Waiting is never easy, especially when we’re waiting for something as important and awesome as Christmas. Yet, the waiting itself is essential in properly preparing our hearts for the birthday of our Lord.

One way to ensure that Advent will be a time of reflection rather than a time for commercial hype is to simply try and do as much Christmas shopping as possible the week before Advent begins. Some did that on Black Friday, and some are still at it.  Somehow, we’ve traded the best story in the world for the story of what’s on sale.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas;
Soon the bells will start,
And the thing that will make them ring
Is the carol that you sing
Right within your heart.

Meredith Willson

We need to remember that our spirit, soul or inner self needs nourishment and time. We often are just too busy to give it the time it deserves. Advent is a journey that prioritizes  time for ourselves and gives us time to ask what the message of Christmas can mean for us. I’m very thankful for a season that reminds me to take time out.

If we rush through the next few weeks it won't happen. Advent puts the brakes gently on, allowing us to slow down enough to make it happen.  I’ve found that if you make the time for things you really want, you’ll find the time that is needed.

You may give gifts without caring, but you can't care without giving.

Boy Frank Clark nailed it. i like that.
You hit it yourself with:

I’ve found that if you make the time for things you really want, you’ll find the time that is needed.
Smiling, I like that.

I LOVE the concept that it's all about the timing. True, indeed.

Love Mr. Clark's words!

I'm so accustomed to feeling overwhelmed at this time of year, I had to bring myself up short this morning ... realizing the majority of my to-do's were done!

I like your thought, Ma, that people like the story of the sale but forget the real story of Christmas. That is so true! Also good advice to get the shopping done before Advent begins so that one can take that time to reflect.
