Chapter 7, Page 31, Book 13

Information is not knowledge.

Albert Einstein

Specially blended for asking…

Human beings are big on how to. Search on the Internet, and you will soon learn how to tie a tie, boil an egg, or even train your dragon.

The information age is changing who we are, how we think, what we believe, how we behave.  The world is not going to ever revert back to way things were ten, twenty or thirty years ago.

It is important for us to understand that there is a difference between information, knowledge, truth, and wisdom.  not all knowledge is healthy, positive. On the contrary there is much knowledge that is harmful.

People should want to know how and why things work.  Sometimes, even when we are very well in touch with our needs and wants, it's hard to know how to ask, or even what to ask, to get what we are looking for.

One thing I've found to be very true is that when I'm seeking answers, the best thing I can do is pray.  Prayer is the  connection between God and believer. Prayer is asking and thanking, but it’s more than that, it’s also worship, listening, learning, expecting, and hoping.

The answers are not all on the internet.  The Lord has most assuredly promised to answer our prayers.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

Matthew 7:7

There is no formula to prayer, it is simply conversing with God. It is essentially talking with God as you would talk with a parent who loves you and wants the best for you.

This past Sunday our deacon shared some information on praying and I thought it was worth sharing.

He explained the ACTS method of praying. ACTS stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication.

Adoration means worship. Begin your time of prayer by adoring and praising God. Praise Him for who He is and for all that He has done for you.

Confession, the next component, is telling God about the things that you have done wrong. It's a time to express sorrow about what you have said, thought, or done that is not pleasing to Him. Ask God to forgive you for these things, and then believe that He does so freely.

Thanksgiving basically means being thankful to God. Thank Him for His love, protection, and provision just to name a few things.

Supplication is the final component, and this means praying for your needs and for the needs of others, such as friends, family and you may want to pray for such things as God's guidance and wisdom too.

Keep in mind that the ACTS model serves as a guide to help you, not a rigid formula to follow. There is no canned approach that you need to take; just talk from your heart

Where is all the knowledge we lost with information?

I have been praying though the ACTS for a long time now. I was interested in what Einstein said - information is not always knowledge. You can explain and explain but sometimes people don't get it. sandie

I love the T. S. Eliot and Einstein quotes.
