The dog days of summer have arrived and along with that we can expect the hottest days of the year. If you are like me and have air conditioning staying indoors is an option for keeping cool, but not everyone wants to or can be inside to keep cool. So here are some other ways to keep cool on hot summer days
We all need our water. It is impossible to survive with out it and these hot summer days mean that we need it more than ever.
Beware heat stroke: headache, and confusion, dizzy feelings and vomiting. This mean you are dehydrated and your body heat is too high. People die in heat waves. Drink water. Carry a water bottle with you every where you go. Stay cool
Get a spray spritz bottle, fill it with water and spray your face and body - the evaporation will cool you. You can also fill a bin of ice water and cool your feet. That works, too
If you get too hot, simply pour a whole bottle of water over yourself. It works. The average adult loses 30 per cent of body heat from their head. So cool your head and it cools the rest of you.
What is better, on the scorching days of summer, than cool water?
I do love my tea and thanks to a visit with one of my son's and his family one summer, I discovered Lemon peppermint tea.
For each cup of tea:
1 cup boiled water
1 peppermint tea bag or 1 teaspoon peppermint leaves
1 wedge of fresh lemon
Honey to sweeten
This is easy, make your peppermint tea, the hotter the water the better, squeeze in lemon from one lemon wedge and if you like sweet tea add honey to taste. I pour this over a tall glass of ice cubes and drink it cold.
Very refreshing. I have also made this with a cup of Lemon tea flavored with some fresh mint.
Iced tea is too pure and natural a creation not to have been invented as soon as tea, ice, and hot weather crossed paths.
