The warmth and joy of Christmas, brings us closer to each other.

Monday, December 17th:  JOY

Christmas carols and decorations are filled with the word Joy during this time of the year.  Sometimes it is easier to sing about joy than to describe it.  Joy comes to us in many ways but Christmas JOY is unique and greater than anything else I know of.

Joy is all around during the Christmas season: in children, lights, music and the act of coming together as family and friends. These feelings all create a warm glow inside our hearts.  And just when we think we have it - it's snatched away at a moments notice.

At times like this it's important to patiently wait for that JOY to return.  Advent holds the promise of such a time as this.

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13
As I'm in countdown mode this week for our family celebration this coming weekend, I'm going to be trying real hard to keep that JOY first and foremost in each day.

The joy of brightening other lives, bearing others' burdens, easing other's loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of Christmas.
