Chapter 12, Page 31, Book 09

My 7 children when they were young…the best gift of all

On the 7th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

Seven Swans A-swimming
The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: 1) prophecy, 2) ministry, 3) teaching, 4) exhortation, 5) giving, 6) leading, and 7) compassion (Romans 12:6-8; cf. 1 Corinthians 12

The seven swans were swimming and having such fun,
That when I called them, they wouldn't come out, not one!

So here we have…Seven New Years noise makers for you all!

I’m sure by now you need a break from my fun and games…Tomorrow I’ll have the 8th day of Christmas for you, but for now i
t is New Years Eve and the very last day of 2009.

The book is closed,
The year is done,
The pages full
Of tasks begun.
A little joy,

A little care,
Along with dreams,
Are written there.
This new day brings
Another year,
Renewing hope,
Dispelling fear.
And we may find

Before the end,
A deep content,
Another friend.

The Book of 2009 will soon be closed and I’ll be opening a new one for you tomorrow. What 2010 will bring to us is a mystery.

The poem above seemed to say so much about my journaling I felt it belonged here on Page 31 and I thank the person that wrote it. Sometimes I have a very difficult time expressing my feelings and the thoughtful words of others often express much better than I can what is in my heart. My Journal is written in books…this being Book 09 and tomorrow I’ll start Book 10. Each month is a chapter in it and each day is a page.

On the side bar of this journal I had posted pictures of the highlights of my 2009 book. The slate is wiped clean and the spot is now open for new pictures of highlights of a new year.

The past is gone, today is what we have, tomorrow is a mystery

Once you have read a book you care about,

some part of it is always with you.

A Very Bright and Beautiful New Year to you all!

Chapter 12, Page 30, Book 09

On the 6th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

Six Geese A-laying
The six days of creation that confesses God as Creator and Sustainer of the world (Genesis 1)

Six geese a-laying some eggs quite unique.

I looked at them close and what do you think?

You don't really want messy geese all over the house do you?

How about some of the eggs they left behind

The eggs will make eggnog

Quick as a blink?

Here’s a recipe just for you

6 eggs
3 cups milk
8 tablespoons sugar
3 teaspoon vanilla essence

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, ground

In a large bowl, beat the eggs using an electric beater (if available).
By turn, add milk & sugar.
Continue beating until mixture thickens slightly.
Add in the vanilla essence & ground nutmeg.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until chil
led (at least 3 hours).

Serves: 8

I always sprinkle a little nutmeg on top of mine

Yes, I do still have a quart of eggnog left in my fridge so I really won’t be making any right away. It is one of my favorite things and always have it on hand from Thanksgiving till New Years.

The glasses have lovely Christmas trees embossed on the sides of them.

All these wonderful foods and drinks I’ve been having are certainly not good on my waist size for sure. Things are beginning to get a little tight. Thankfully I do not eat all this well normally so soon we’ll be getting back to healthier eating for sure.

Why is that healthy eating just doesn’t taste as good???

I’ll have the 7th day of Christmas for you all tomorrow.

Chapter 12, Page 29, Book 09

This beautiful cross stitch banner was made for me by DDIL#5

On the 5th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

Five Gold Rings
The first Five Books of the Old Testament, known as the Torah or the Pentateuch: 1) Genesis, 2) Exodus, 3) Leviticus, 4) Numbers, and 5) Deuteronomy, which gives the history of humanity's sinful failure and God's response o
f grace in the creation of a people to be a light to the world.

Only five golden rings?
There really are more
Of gold pineapple rings
I got from the store

Sorry, I'm too poor to buy five real gold rings, but will some golden pineapple rings suffice

This recipe is for pineapple rings with marshmallows roasted over the campfire

1 can Pineapple slices (in syrup or juice)

Sticks or Skewers

Skewer the pineapple slices, working a marshmallow into the center hole.

Toast over a low fire or on a grill until the pineapple gets hot and the marshmallow gets as brown as you like it.

You might know I’d have to stick something in here about a campfire…I am so missing my family and friends sitting around the campfire sharing and laughing together.

I’ve been counting down the days for sure!

A few have asked about when I’ m retiring. I hope to know that before the month of January is over. I will meet with the powers to be and see exactly what my income will be and then I’ll know if I can afford to retire. I’ve been given an estimated amount but that is all I have to go with at this time. After my meeting, I’ll know exactly what it will be. It all depends on what they say.

Have a great day everyone!

I’ll have another day of Christmas to share with you all tomorrow!

On the 4th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

Four Calling Birds
The Four Gospels: 1) Matthew, 2) Mark, 3) Luke, and 4) John, which proclaim the Good News of God's reconciliation of the world to Himself in Jesus Christ.

The calling birds have all flown away.
They're visiting the South to see the view.
Instead of a call, they left these few things,
Some pencils and paper – their gift to you

I can't find those calling birds, but here are the messages they left for you before they flew off

Every Christmas it seems I add to my collection of notes and pens. Most of the notes that I send these days are sent via emails. However I do write myself notes and stick them on the fridge or by the back door or put them in my purse to find when I go shopping.

One person I read about even leaves notes on her bathroom mirror for her family to see with a dry erase marker. This dry erase marker wipes off easily and I suppose if you wanted everyone in the family to get a message – the bathroom would be the place.

I’m off to work as usual this morning and my message for you

Have a great day everyone – another wonderful one on the Way.
