Chapter 8, Page 6, Book 09

1. Do not undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special.
2. Do not set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.
3. Do not take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.
4. Do not let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past nor for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life
5. Do not give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying. It is a fragile thread that binds us to each other.
6. Do not be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.
7. Do not shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible to find.
8. The quickest way to receive love is to give love; The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly.
9. Do not dismiss your dreams. To be without dreams is to be without hope; To be without hope is to be without purpose.
10. Do not run through life so fast that you forget not only where you have been, but also where you are going.
11. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.

It’s so very true, we are all unique and we all have different things that are important to us. The goals I have may not be the same as the ones you have. But in one way we are all the same. We all live in a constantly changing world.

Lots of people have things they don’t really need yet they don’t have any money to spend on what they do need.

In today’s troubled economy persevering is taking on a new meaning to many. Having the strength to ride out hard times also puts a new light on the way most of us think about a lot of things.

Our lives are meant to be savored. Treasures that last are the ones that money just cannot buy. With a little effort even the most mundane moments in our day to day activities can be turned into enriching and exciting experiences.

It is important to remember that the true journey happens not only in space and time but in our hearts.

About the only thing that comes to us without effort is old age

I love the life is a journey and not a race; I think we need to impart that wisdom to young people; they want to rush through their lives to get to the next stage; to be able to drive, to graduate from high school, etc. But life should really be savored, even in the hard times for that makes us appreciate the good times :)

Thanks Ma, specially for the "You're worth it" pointers. I've printed that up so I can keep it on my fridge door and have something more to think about than opening it!
