Chapter 5, Page 6, Book 09

Poet: Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Do you wish the World were better?
Let me tell you what to do:
Set a watch upon your actions,
Keep them always straight and true.
Rid your mind of selfish motives,
Let your thoughts be clean and high.
You can make a little Eden
Of the sphere you occupy.
Do you wish the World were wiser?
Then suppose you make a start,
By accumulating wisdom
In the scrap book of your heart .
Do not waste one page on folly;
Live to learn and learn to live.
If you want to give men knowledge
You must get it ere you give.
Do you wish the World were happy?
Then remember day by day,
Just to scatter seeds of kindness,
As you pass along the way.
For the pleasures of the many,
May be oft times traced to one.
As the hand that plants an acorn,
Shelters armies from the sun.

Here we are with another brand new day and it all ours to do with what we will. Each of us in our own little way will be contributing something to others in every thing we do or day. We can do so much good right where we are. Being courteous and kind are at the top of my list each day. Gentleness goes a lot further than any gruffness we might be tempted to hand out.
Yesterday I had a potential customer call the office that was so cheerful you could just see him smiling at the other end of the line. He greated me with how are you today! Rarely do I get that kind of call and believe me I felt a whole lot more cheerful myself when I got done talking to him.
He didn’t have to be nice. I didn’t know him or the company he worked for. But he was!
It’s nice to know there are just plain nice people in the world. Sometimes we forget that.
My wish is that you’ll find a nice person along the way today too.
‘On Ya’-ma

A smile is nature's best antidote for discouragement.
It brings rest to the weary,
Sunshine to those who are frowning,
And hope to those who are hopeless and defeated.
A smile is so valuable that it can't be bought,
Begged, borrowed, or taken away against your will.
You have to be willing to give a smile away
Before it can do anyone else any good.
So if someone is too tired or grumpy to flash you a smile,
Let him have one of yours anyway.
Nobody needs a smile as much
As the person who has none to give.

I bet that did brighten your day getting that phone call. It seems like that doesn't happen much anymore. People are just too busy & are wrapped up in themselves these days...

Words can make or break a day, can't they. Our son J gets up in the morning, the most cheerful young man around. He greets everyone with a hearty "good morning". It always starts our day off right. Wonder words of wisdom in this post. Hugs..

He is a perfect example of how we should be. it's wonderful to hear there are others who want to make a day even better for those around them.
