Chapter 12, Page 12, Book 08

The candy cane represents one of the oldest
symbols of Christmas, the shepherd's crook.
The shepherds were among the first to experience that first Christmas. The colors of the candy cane have special meaning, too. The wide red stripe represents the sacrifice of Christ, For by his stripes we are healed. If your candy cane has a narrow red stripe, it represents our own sacrifices (giving). The white stripe is a symbol of purity. The peppermint plant is a member of the hyssop family, referred to in the Old Testament as a medicinal herb used for cleansing. As you eat your candy cane, you might want to break it,as Christ's body was broken for you, and share it with a friend, thus sharing in the sweetness of the true meaning of Christmas.
Jesus Gentle Shepherd,
This cane of red and white
Proclaims the sweet love story
Born on Christmas night.
This cane, you see, when turned around
Begins your name of Love
And now becomes a symbol
Of peace proclaimed above.
The lively peppermint flavors the regal gift of spice.
The white is your purity
And the red your sacrifice.
And so this cane reminds us
Of just how much you care
And like your Christmas Gift
To us it's meant for all to share.

GOOD MORNING!
It’s Friday and I’m doing the happy dance !
I made it through another work week and that is worth celebrating for sure. Some mornings I wonder how I’m even going to make it out the door let alone work all day, but some how the good Lord gives me the strength to do it all and so I do.
You know each year I get older and each year winter gets longer and longer. Who ever thought I’d be still working or even needing to? I had such grand plans and we all know where that got me.

Relax and celebrate each day I always say. There is only One who knows what each day will bring so we just have to do the best we can and be thankful that we can.
This weekend I really need to finish off my Christmas Cards so they can be mailed on Monday and I should make sure that the gifts I’ve gotten are wrapped up and ready to give. A week from Saturday is our Family Christmas get together. So this is the weekend to get it all done.

Fridays are wonderful days!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

IT IS TIME TO BE QUIET

. . . it is timeto quiet ourselves,. . .

to reflect upon all the gifts we are . . .

and have. . .

and can imagine.

to give thanks

from our deepest selves.

to surrender to the love

that came before us,

lives now among us,

and is,forever,

before us.

. . . it is time

‘On Ya’-ma

Fridays are wonderful days! but I keep telling my husband every single day should be considered wonderful! we have the Lord on our side; we have the promise of eternity and his abundant promises from the Bible; I'm trying to find joy in each day, the Mondays as well as the Fridays :)

(of course more joy in Fridays :)

I hope you get a lot accomplished this weekend :)
