Chapter 11, Page 19, Book 08

A little story this morning.

A pastor was visiting some of his parishioners. He took his young daughter with him. As they visited an elderly couple, the man gave her a handful of peanuts. Expecting her to show a spirit of gratitude, the father asked his daughter, "Honey, what are you supposed to say?"
Sincerely, and with her eyes fixed upon the man, she asked, "You got any more?" That sounds like many of us. We accept God's gifts, never saying "thank you" but simply asking, "Have you got any more?" Yet God keeps giving. That is His nature

We all have dreams of a sudden windfall -- whether it's winning the lottery, inheriting from a distant relation or the old "bank error in your favor. As someone once said, "Enough is a little bit more than whatever you have now." The desire to pursue moremoremore often gains the upper hand. Knowing and accepting that you have enough is not a natural reflex

It is true that for many of us enough is not enough. To be happy and content with what you have is a secret that few know about. Most days I’m content. If I’d known 40 years ago what I know now I would have saved myself a lot of stress. For those of you that are still young I can only say…enjoy what you have.

I was supposed to meet with some friends of mine last night and one of them was ill so that didn’t happen. I wasn’t too upset about it at all because it was freezing cold outside and it felt good to be home and warm.
I got my pj’s on and my fleece robe and just enjoyed the evening.

Monday and Tuesday the boss was out of the office most of the day so I didn’t have a lunch hour. I always pack my lunch as I’ve had that happen a lot in the years I’ve worked there. Today I think he’ll be in so I might get to do a little shopping at lunch time. I don’t really need anything but I’ll check out the sales.

It’s OVER THE HUMP DAY so now the weekend isn’t far away ! It’ll be a busy one with getting everything ready for my Thanksgiving Break with all my children. I’m not sure exactly what one wears to a water park resort, but I do know I’m packing my swim suit for sure. A hot tub or Jacuzzi sound wonderful about now.

I’ve never made a fortune and it’s probably too late now;
But I don’t worry about that much, I’m happy anyhow.
And as I go along life’s way I’m reaping better than I sow;
I’m drinking from my saucer ‘Cause my cup has overflowed.
Haven’t got a lot of riches and sometimes the going’s tough,
But I’ve got loving ones around me and that makes me rich enough.
I thank God for his blessings and the mercies he’s bestowed;
I’m drinking from my saucer ‘cause my cup has overflowed.
O, remember times when things went wrong my faith wore somewhat thin;
But all at once the dark clouds broke and sun peeped through again.
So Lord, help me not to gripe about the tough rows that I’ve hoed;
I’m drinking from my saucer ‘Cause my cup has overflowed.
If God gives me strength and courage when the way grows steep and rough,
I’ll not ask for other blessings I’m already blessed enough.
And may I never be too busy to help others bear their loads;
Then I’ll keep drinking from my saucer ‘Cause my cup has overflowed
By Jimmy Stewart

‘On Ya’-ma

No longer forward nor behind
I look in hope or fear;
But, grateful, take the good I find,
The best of now and here.

John Greenleaf Whittier

oh a Jacuzzi sounds neat!! I bet you will enjoy your time at the water park for sure!!!

it is so true to find the secret of being content; half the mess we are in with the economy these days is because people weren't content with what they had and were living on 110% of their income and it caught up with a lot of people. We just have to remember it all comes from God and we can't take anything with us when we die except for souls, so we should learn to be content with such things as we have :)
