Chapter 11, Page 7, Book 08

Thanksgiving is the holiday of peace,
the celebration of work and the simple life . . .
a true folk-festival that speaks the poetry
of the turn of the seasons,
the beauty of seedtime and harvest,
the ripe product of the year -
and the deep, deep connection
of all these things with God
Ray Stannard Baker

Thanksgiving and Peace do seem to go together don’t they? When we are thankful for what we have we are peaceful people. It is when we are not happy with what we have that the miseries creep in. Then we gripe and complain. I think that must be why there is so much unrest in the world. People for the most part are not thankful and are not happy.

Our pastor is always saying that if all the poor in the world were given enough to eat and an education then we would have peace. In uneducated countries, people believe only what they are taught and in some cases what they are taught is not good for sure. If you are starving and so is your family, you may do some unethical things just to have food.

I am very thankful that I do have what I need and that I am a peaceful person.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance,
chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast,
a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past,
brings peace for today,
and creates a vision for tomorrow.

I too am thankful for the peace in my life and that I have what I need. Sometimes we need to be reminded to be thankful as it is human nature to look at the other person and think they have it all. Have a wonderful day MA
