As truly as there is in God a property of truly there is in God a property of thirst and longing. By virtue of this longing in Christ, we have to long for God's response...The property of longing thirst comes from the endless goodness of God...Spiritual thirst will last in God as long as we are to need,
drawing up to God's blisss.
Julian of Norwich
We are rarely completely satisified. Usually we are longing, wishing thirsting for something more.We are often like that empty cup waiting to be filled with whatever we think is missing in our lives. Once we shake loose of the longing for things, our spirit is freed up to thirst for the deeper things of God.
Some deeper thirsts might be
peace of mind and heart
healing of old wounds
acceptance of ourselves
justice for the exploited
discover of who we truly are
harmony with our families and people we work with
wisdome to make good choices
forgiveness of ourselves and others
a willingness to hear God's voice
Scripture Psalm 63
O God, you are my God
I seek you
my soul thirsts for you
my fleshe faints for you
as in a dry and weary land
where there is no water
I will always be in 'want ' of God's kindness and mercy
Today I will deliberately let myself be physically thirsty.
I will let that thirst remind me of my inner thirst for God.
