Tuesday - Already !

That I am here is a wonderful mystery
to which I will respond with joy .

Today was a nice easy day - I even got to go out at lunch time.
I went in to the drugstore across the street from where I work and found a bargain !
They had flip flops on sale two for the price of one. Flipflops have become my favorite summer time foot wear. It seems that in the summer my feet are very hot just as in the winter they're very cold.
We have a promise of the high 70 's all week. Nice and warm. I got the grass cut this evening just in case I get a chance to sit on the porch swing tomorrow evening. I'm looking forward to it. It's been a long time coming.

Memorial Day!

God takes care of HIS own. He knows our needs. At just the right moment,
He steps in and provides Himself as our faithful heavenly Father
Charles R. Swindoll

If you want your dreams to come true, don't oversleep

The smallest good deed is better than the grandest intention

Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most important

The best vitamin for making friends....B1

The 10 commandments are not multiple choice

The happiness of your life depends onthe quality of your thoughts

Minds are like parachutes...they function only when open

Ideas won't work unless YOU do

One thing you can't recycle is wasted time

One who lacks the courage to start has already finished

The heaviest thing to carry is a grudge

Don't learn safety rules by accident

We lie the loudest when we lie to ourselves

Jumping to conclusions can be bad exercise

One thing you can give and still your word

A friend walks in wheneveryone else walks out

The pursuit of happiness is the chase of a lifetime

Please pause to day and reflect on those who gave their lives for our freedom and for those that continue to protect our freedom.

The 1st Family Camp Day of year is today...the babes have been camping the entire weekend, but I'll be joining them today. It's been a cool, party cloudy, partly rainy weekend and I'm praying the sun comes out to warm us up today !

God loves each one of us as if there
were only one of us.

It's 'House Blessing' day again. Not so much the house work getting done here as there is laundry. I stripped the beds in 2 of my spare bedrooms and they are on the 3rd floor. I've got to get the house ready for the family when they come homc this summer. So from the 3rd floor to the basement is a lot of stairs. I also have a bad habit of hanging things in the basement after I wash them. A lot had accumulated so that meant many many trips from the basement up to the 2nd floor. Wow - what a workout !

This is way too big of a house for one person, but when the family comes in , I appreciate having 3 extra bedrooms.

A Letter from Home

You are...infinitely dear to the Father,
unspeakably precious to Him. You are
never, not for one second, alone.
Norman F. Dowty

When I was looking in the bookshelf this evening, a letter fell out. It was from my Grandmother and was not dated. The stamp had been cut off the envelope, as my Grandmother saved stamps and had asked me to send back the stamp for her collection. Home was always at my grandparents. If my mother talked about Home, we knew where she meant. Going home was always a treat.
In her letter she mentions that while I'm staying in bed I shouldn't read or knit too much as that's hard on the eyes. That would be when I was pregnant for my first born and had to spend 5 month's in bed in order to be able to have him. He was a premie but was born healthy and strong.
I don't know if I have other letters stuck away some place or not, but tonite I heard from my Grandmother and it was a letter from home.

Family Reunion Announcement

Our Heavenly Father never takes
anything from His children unless
He means to give them something better.

George MacDonald

In my mailbox today, I got a notice of the Family Reunion. My maternal grandparent's side of the family reunion. At the top of flyer was a picture of My Grandparents . How young they looked ! The picture was taken in 1953. I always wish I could go, but haven't been able to for years. I have several aunts and an uncle still living and lots and lots of cousins. When we were children we seemed to get together often and I really miss that.

This year it will be the weekend before my youngest son's wedding . Needless to say, I won't be able to go again, as I'll have a house full of my own children and grandchildren that will come from out of state for the wedding.

Someday, maybe my children will be having a family reunion to celebrate too !

Labyrinths and Sunshine !

Within your heart
Keep one still, secret spot
Where dreams may go
And, sheltered so,
May thrive and grow.
Louise Driscoll

This evening was our prayer group and the subject tonight was labyrinths. Very interesting and worth pursuing, I think.
Your life is a sacred journey . I t is about change, growth, discovery, movement, transformation, continuously expanding your vision of what is possible, stretching your soul,.....You are on the path, exactly where you are meant to be right now and from here you can only go forward...
Caroline Adams.
The labyrinth is a model of that path.
They have only one path
They are unicircle
The way in is the way out
There are no blind alleys.
The path leads you to the center and out again.
The labyrinth is a metaphore for the journey to the center of your deepest self and back out into the world with a broadened understanding of who you are.
They have most likely always been used in a spiritual manner.
Just some thoughts from tonight.
We DID have some sunshine today. The breeze we got must have been coming off the lake though , it was still very chilly.

May the Lord be loyal to you...
and reward you with many demonstations of His Love
2 Samuel 2:6

I just finished yesterdays 'zone' work...I swept the dust and cobwebs out of my bedroom window sills and all around the walls and ceiling. There were dust bunnies hiding out everywhere. Not any longer. I've got to admit I don't know when I did that last.
With just a little bit at a time, I seem to get more done that if I try to get it all done at once.
It was posting data on the computer day at work. I'm glad to say that is done for another week. Actually I do everything but the filing and the cleaning on the computer. Yes, I clean at work too ! It's truly a 'one woman' show there.
It was a cloudy day here with just a few showers and the low tonite is going to be 46 degrees. Maybe I took those flannel sheets off too early.

No Mistake About It - It's Monday !

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams
Eleanor Roosevelt

Supper tonite was leftovers! Since I cooked for my family yesterday, I get to enjoy a couple of quick meals this week. Putting it on a plate and into the microwave is great ! Lunch was also leftovers since DS#1 sent leftover pizza home with me on Saturday ! It's not much fun cooking for 1 , but I do spoil myself and eat what I want. That leads to another problem though - my clothes are getting a bit snug again. Must be time to cut back!

The weatherman said it was supposed to be foggy this morning. I didn't see any on my way to work, but my mind sure has been foggy all day. I think I'll take my 'trip to the beach' and turn in early tonite. Maybe that will help.

Sunny Morning, Rainy Evening

Joy comes from knowing God loves me, and knows who I am and where I'm going...that my future is secure as I rest in Him.
James Dobson

This weekend went way too fast. Some of my children were here for dinner and just left to go to the 'Star Wars' movie and here I am--unwinding and relaxing. For son #5 it will be the 2nd time he sees the movie. The morning was beautiful and warm, by noon the clouds came and by 5 the rain came.
I am looking forward to next weekend as it will be 3 days instead of the normal 2! It will be the first weekend for family camping. Four of my Seven and thier families will be there. I will be going on Sunday just to spend the day with them and of course I'll be taking the 'deviled eggs'. More pictures will be coming!!!
My recipe for 'Deviled Eggs'
I hard boil 10 eggs as my container holds 20 halves.
I put the yolks in a bowl with about 3 Tbsp. of mayo and 1 Tbsp of mustard
a little salt and pepper and mash it all up til all the lumps are out and then fill the white halves with the yolk mixture and sprinkle with paprika. Very simple, very good !
There are lots of variations, but this one works for my family .
I had lots of family time this weekend and will again next...I am such a blessed mom.
Grandma Quote for Today

Saturday evening was an absolute delight ! Our Princess had her dance recital and we were so blessed. Not only by her, but the whole show. Little balerinas and toe dancers, and tap dancers.
DD and DS#5 and I drove down and back together and that's also a treat as I got to catch up on some news from them too !
Sunday is my DS#4's birthday. I won't be able to celebrate with him in person , but in spirit that's for sure! And I'm also having dinner for those that can make it - usually dinner is the 3rd Sunday, but no one could make it then.
There are pictures posted for you all to see !!!
Thank the dear Lord for a very Blessed weekend!

God understands our prayers even when
we can't find the words to say them.
The grass is mowed once again and I need to remember to get gas for the lawnmower before it's time to do it again !
I put on one of my favorite cds and am just enjoying a peaceful evening.
My eggs are boiled for 'deviled' eggs. Once again our 'princess' requested that Grand'ma' bring the eggs when she comes tomorrow. I'm going to visit because she has her dance recital tomorrow evening. I'll be posting pictures - of course !
Our family camping season begins on Memorial Day weekend, so I suppose I'll be making those eggs every weekend that they are camping.

A Few Showers...A Few Blessings Today

PSALM 40:4
My day began with blessings. On the way to work I was speeding down the highway and spotted a beautiful deer ready to run across the road...suddenly he turned and went the other way - blessing #1
A little futher down the road a low flying bird was flying directly toward my windowshield...suddenly he lifted up and turned back. Blessing #2
and before I got to work, I spotted a man sitting at a stop light with his convertible top down and his jacket zipped up around his neck and a baseball cap on. Blessing # 3
Why was this one a blessing???
He reminded me that even though storm clouds are overhead - you should still be optimistic. I thought to myself...this man has the right idea.

Dulcimer Night

May I never miss a sunset or a rainbow
because I am looking down.

I'm off to my friends' for our monthly night of dulcimer and laughter. We should get together more often, but we don't often manage it. Sometimes we do go other places together in between, either way we enjoy each other's company.

On my way to work this morning, I saw the most unusual thing. One of the farmer's fields was white ! I thought - now what could that be??? Not snow?? As I got closer I saw that it was dandelions! The white fluffy stuff that comes after the flower. I know we all get them in our yards, but I never saw a huge field full of them. God always gives us beautiful surprises !

All Is Very Quiet Here - I need to wind the clocks!

God's promises are like the stars;
the darker the night,
the brighter they shine.
David Nicholas

There is something about Monday that often overwhelms me. Maybe its the getting up and going to work, or maybe it's knowing that I go home to the delightful task of taking the garbage out. I'm not sure, but I'm always glad when it's over. You know I don't lead a hard life, I pretty much do with my evenings whatever I want. Most of the time I'm too pooped to participate any further. So I'll take my complaints and shut them away and dwell on the blessings of the day.
No rain, car started, my job was busy, but easy, no accidents coming or going, had a delicious supper of bannana pancakes, one of my friends called to say she was feeling better, and my neighbour brought over a whole bag of plastic baggies (saved from groceries) that I used for my doggie do bags. Now that's alot of blessings all in one day - don't you think! Oh, I can't forget to mention I had apple cake for breakfast!

Every day in life fills the whole life with expectation and memory
C.S. Lewis

It is a party to mostly cloudy, restful Sunday here. I had to do something with some apples that were almost too ripe, so I made an apple cake this afternoon. Wish you all were here to share it with me!
Only one here that would like some is my little cat, but I don't think so....
After splurging on cake I'll have to go out and wear some of the calories off. The yard needs mowing already. The rain the past 2 days must have made it grow faster. I'm supposed to be mowing on Thursdays, but if I wait that long it will look pretty bad.

For lo, the winter is past
The rain is over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth;
The time of singing has come.
Song of Solomon 2:22-23

Time to take a break ! I've been up since 6:30 this morning . I did my daily e-mail and then started in on the 'House Blessing' . So far I've got the kitchen and bath floors clean, a load of laundry in , the living and dining room swept and I'm halfway up the stairs to the bedrooms and craft room. I had to stop and take a breather.
Of course, when I take a breather, it is at the computer. I read my favorite journals and checked my e-mail. I have journal friends in Missouri, Kentucky, LasVegas Nevada, Tennessee, California and few others too! We all have some great things in common. We all have a great respect for life and it's value.
Guess I have to get back up the stairs, I'm not even dressed yet, but figured I'd shower and dress after I get done sweating ! I don't have hot flashes anymore, but let me do a little exercise and my brow is wet !

Sunshine and the yard is mowed !

When you have...accomplished your daily tasks,
go to sleep in peace.
God is Awake
Victor Hugo
A quiet evening here. I still have about an hour of time left to head for the craft room to paint. I never made it there yesterday evening.
Everything is really turning green around here, the grass, the trees, and my tulips are just about done blooming. The lilac trees have buds and the Lilies of the Valley are coming up. Seems like I see more new growth each day. Our yard is a beautiful hodge podge of plants. Something new blooms when something old fades. As today was Ascension Thursday, I guess I should take my "He is Risen" flag down and put up something for the Month of May. I have a new RED WHITE and Blue one that should do through Memorial Day. I love to display different flags thoughout the year. I'm trying to go with a theme that includes RED WHITE and BLUE or has an American flag pictured in it.

Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everthing I need. He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams.
Psalm 23: 1-2
My eyelids finally opened...the sun came out today !
I am so affected by the dull dreary days. All I want to do is sleep. Of course, I don't get a chance to do that, so I go around half awake.
This evening, I'm in the craft room, trying to finish what I started last weekend. I didn't even check out 'Fly Lady' as I wouldn't be doing the suggested Zone thing anyway.
I got a call from our 'Rycylcled Kids 'Store today saying they had some pack n' plays come in...I've been on the waiting list since I found out my Florida 'sunshine' boys were coming to visit this summer. They are both still in cribs, so now Grand'ma has a bed for them. I also got a booster chair that fits on a regular chair and it has a tray on it, just like a high chair too ! All this for about the price you'd pay for 1 pack n' play. Not bad !!!
All my other children and their children will be coming in for my youngest son's wedding in August too! My Mississippi babes are big enough to sleep in a regular bed...and the Delaware babes are staying at son#5's house. There is plenty of room between all of us for everyone to fit in.
I'm excited - can you tell???

This evening has gone by so fast, I don't know where the time went. I'm trying to develop a new web site and not having much there's where my time went to. According to the plan for this week - I was supposed to clean up the 'hot spots' - such as the accumulation of junk mail in the dining room, but didn't get that done either.
I've been enjoying my leftover meatloaf from Sunday. Tomorrow I'll probably have the last of it for lunch...I usually only cook on weekends and make do the rest of the week. It is going down in the 30's tonite, but the sun is supposed to shine for us tomorrow ! I do need that sunshine !!!

Snow In May...

MAY 2, 2005
YES, it certainly did snow here today...nothing sticking on the ground or anything, but sure enough snow coming down...
Busy busy at work today. All the end of the month (April) billings to do and a little bit of lots of other things too! It was nice though, because the day flew by and I like that!
This evening I did my Zone thing that 'Fly Lady' suggested for today and got my trash out--the Rubbish Men come tomorrow. Come to think of it - I've never seen a Rubbish Lady.
