Chapter 5, Page 8, Book 20

Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood.  Now is the time to understand more, so we may fear less.

Marie Curie

Our present times are understandably frightening because nothing like this has happened before in our lifetime. We should be reasonable and cautious but not frightened.  Keep yourself informed but refrain from obsessive news programs.  Constructive precautions to take should include staying away from large crowds, disinfecting surfaces and washing your hand frequently, protectecting yourself as best as you can, but don’t panic.

If we are doing what we can, that should aleve any worry we have. Counter your fear and be deliberate in your defense.   Occupy your mind with relaxing hobbies.  Whether you play the piano, read a book or play a board game, these activities and help calm your mind and prevent the downward spiral of fear.  Talking to people has been proven to reduce anxiety so make phone calls as often as necessary. Getting outdoors and taking walks or bicycle rides is another way to reduce the stress of staying indoors so much.  Staying cooped up in the house is not good for you.   Our actions will keep the fears at bay.

Don’t let fear over take your life, do something about it.

Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage and confidence in the doing.

Facing the unknown can be scary, but we have to take control...

Good advice. I've been trying to knit more, do some different exercises, and when the weather cooperates (which hasn't been that much), go for walks, work in the yard, and mow the grass. Strange times for sure. I probably read far more news than I did 3 months ago; but then with the crazy political stuff going on was reading quite a bit than too. Popped into visit and say hi from a mutual friends blog. I always love to meet new bloggers. Do pop round for a visit and stay well.

So true not to live in fear. Take precautions indeed but don't let fear rule your life. I do plan to go out more now that restrictions are being lifted but will do so cautiously.

Timely post! I've begun walking the Village Green again and observing social distancing -- all the while trying not to freak out if I happen to cough. It's probably my old motor complaining after sitting idle for so many months. LOL.

Expecting heavy rain this afternoon so I got out early for a quick walk. I find getting out early is a great way to make my day better. Less people out and some exercise is a win. Take care!

Amen to Betty above. Good thoughts and advice. I like your thoughts on 'understanding' not 'Worry' is a key many times.
