Chapter 11, Page 17, Book 19

In November, the smell of food is different.  It is an orange smell.  A squash and pumpkin smell.  It tastes like cinnamon and can fill up a house in the morning, can pull everyone from bed in a fog.  Food is better in November than other time of year.

Cynthia Rylant

November 17th - thankful for my food.

A moment of gratitude makes a difference in your attitude.

Bruce Wilkenson

It does seem that this is the month of good food.  From apple and pumpkin pies to turkey and stuffing.  I have often wondered why we dont  have them more often, but then I suppose they wouldn’t be so special  if we had them all the time.

We eat every day but do we give thanks for it? I want to give thanks for the food I’m about to have today;

I thank the farmers for growing everything .  I thank the truck drivers for delivering the food to where it needed to be.

I thank everyone and everything that went into the creation of the food .  I’m thankful for the opportunity to have plenty to eat and that I’m not starving on the streets .or in homes as many are around the world..

A great meal is an experience that nourishes more than your body

Ruth Reichl

Giving thanks for food makes more me aware and appreciative of the efforts that go behind what I eat and remind me to continue to be thankful for all the food I’ll consume from here on out.

I hope you will join me in giving thanks and be grateful for the food you get to have and which keeps you well and alive.

Enjoy your food, take small bites, chew it slowly and savor every bite, while remaining aware and appreciative of all the hard work and time that went into the creation of your food.

For each morning with its light
For rest and shelter of the night
for health an food, for love and friends
For everything Thy goodness sends.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thanksgiving wasn't meant to be for just one day...

We do pray before every meal when we are together. I often forget to do it when I'm here alone. Its a simple pray "Thank you Lord for the meal we are about to eat" but it is thanking God for his provisions. I haven't stopped to thank God for those that produce the food for us. Hard work indeed to get it all done!

I was raised with Prayer at every meal. We continue to this day. WE are thankful, and truly thankful for the bountiful blessings we enjoy at HIS pleasure.

I hadn't thought about it, but yes. Food does seem to taste better in November. And oh!, the aromas! LOVE that photos of your sweet family so many years ago!

PS - Like Jack, I was raised to begin each meal, "Come Lord Jesus, be our guest …" Sad, how that seems to have fallen by the way, even in my own home.

That turkey looks so good. I have to admit we don't pray before meals very much. Kind of sad - we need to change that!
