Chapter 10, Page 22, Book 19

You can close your eyes to the things you do not want to see, but you cannot close your heart to the things you do no want to feel.

October 22nd -close the gate

Excerpt from my daily devotion :

There is a story about two men walking down a country lane and across some fields.  One of then forgot to close one of the gates.  After seeing some cows, he realized his mistake and walked back to close it.  He said it reminded him about the words an old man had shared with hm many years before.

As you travel down lifes pathways, remember to close the gates behind you.

Soch advice is one we could also keep close.  Life is never straight forward and there are many attractions, distractions, obstacles and challenges.  We sometimes make mistakes, we could have made better choices and sometime we regret not having done something completely different.

But we shouldn’t allow those to dominate us or take over our lives.  That is why it is so important to close the gate and move on. We need to know there is no need to reopen gates and go back.

We need to move forward and cherish each day as a fresh start and a new beginning.

I wanted a perfect ending. Now Ive learned the hard way, that some poems dont ryhme, and some stories dont have a clear beginning. middle, and end.  Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what’s going to happen next.  Delicious Ambiquity.

This was a really good one to read, Ma. I hadn't thought about the analogy of closing gates, but its a great one! I need to close some gates I think in my own life :)

I must say amen to Betty! Also I learned from Paula (of Texas) the importance of closing the gates! You see signs in Rural Texas, "Close the Gate Behind you" Then a small tombstone that read,"The last guy who forgot!"
Good read!

I really do love all your quotes today. So many wise words. Ambiguity! Like that one too.

moving forward is great advice. "Life is never straight forward."

I knew little about Gilda Radner aside from her comedic work on SNL. 'Never realized she had such a profound way with words. Love that quote!

Good advice...moving on. There's a gate I've left open for far too long. I need to go back and close it once and for all. Thank you, dear friend.
