Chapter 9, Page 22, Book 19

Summers Lease Hath all too short a date.

William Shakespeare

September 22nd - fairwell summer

All things are difficult before they are easy.

Thomas Fuller

It seems like fall started awhile ago with Labor Day, but today is the official last day of summer.  And summer is letting us know about it too.  This weekend has been one of the hottest that we’ve had in awhile.  It’s in the upper 80’s and the air conditioning will be on for hopefully one of the last times this summer.  August was really quite a pleasant month for the most part and September has been too. July was the hottest month with many days in the 90’s.

It was a lazy summer for me and I really didn’t do much, but read a lot of books.  I spent a lot of time on the sunporch  and will be able to continue to use it through October.  After that it’ll get too cold to be comfortable as it isn’t heated.  I’ll miss those lazy porch days.  It’s time to get busy once again as there will be much to do with the holidays soon to come.

The grass has continued to grow, but now leaves are falling and I do leaf duty by mulching up the leaves with my lawnmower.  which is easier on the back than raking by far.

I’ll miss summer’s longer hours of day light and will probably by in bed by the time it gets dark out.  So good by summer.  Officially it will be Autumn tomorrow even though it might still feel like summer for awhile.  I don’t mind, you can linger as long as you want.  I’m not looking forward to the cold weather at all.  I’m going to make the most of the nice days while we have them.

Don’t count the days, make the days count.

Summer is alive and well here in Georgia!

In Alabama, too! I think it was Tuesday (that) we set a record for 102*.

Smiling at that Shakespeare quote: Considering the heavy clothing of those days, and no central air conditioning, I'm amazed at his fondness for summer. :)

Sherry says Summer has at least one more wild week coming up. As the temps drop we think of Florida!

We actually had some periods of time over the past few days where there were 2-3 hours between the air conditioner going on, LOL, usually in the "heat" of summer it can go on several times per hours so having these blocks of times without them signals "fall" is in the air. We are going to have high 80s later this week which is usually compared to the other years we've been down here. I do not like the darker evenings though. Gets dark here about 6:30 now and that will continue to shorten as we move more into fall/winter.
