Chapter 7, Page 19, Book 19

Never be afraid to sit awhile and think.

Lorraine Hansberry

July 19th - porch sitting

Come sit on the porch with me.  The drinks are cold and the friendships free.

I’m blessed to have what I call the sun porch here at my house.  Its really an enclosed patio.  I spend a lot of hours on the porch.  Sometimes just sitting watching the world go by  and sometime I read or work on a project I m doing.

My favorite time of day to enjoy the porch is early on summer mornings. There is usually a gentle breeze blowing even on the hottest of days when its early.   Just after the sun rises and before the noon sun heats it up.

I do keep an old box fan out there just in case it gets hotter than I like, but  really it is one of the nicest, most comfortable rooms in my home.  I got the patio furniture back when I had a camper and used to spend a lot of time sitting on the deck there in the woods.  I checked out most every chair to make sure it was comfortable.  They not only swivel but they also rock.  Rocking is my little way of making sure I get some exercise every day.  Ha!

Its a lovely way to spend a morning and I can recommend it !  I may be retired, but Im not retired from life.  There are so many ways to enjoy it.  And my favorite place on a summer morning is the porch.

Life is better on the porch...

I love this. My husband just recently retired from the military. We've got an old fixer upper farmhouse and the porch is so far my very favorite place to be.

Such a delightful porch to sit in and to enjoy the world from! I think it would be a favorite place of mine too! Even on hot summer days, I like to sit out on the back patio and just watch whatever birds come along or clouds in the sky. So relaxing!

Ah yes, the porch. It has fallen out of favor since the advent of the A/C. As a matter of fact I built only a few houses with REAL porches, but we love them. Our porch on the last one is too small, but still we love it. And I remember you saying you liked our chairs. Yes they are like yours and you can't beat them for porch sitting. The most comfortable we have ever had. Our son Mark gave us two. Love 'em. Also enjoyed the visit to your porch!

Your patio furniture is lovely!
My favorite place to observe the great outdoors is fully enclosed. But this time of year it's far too hot from all the big windows. All the same, it's a good place to ay out heavy denim jeans and let them dry in the sun!
