Chapter 3, Page 19, 2019

Saying nothing…
Sometimes says the most.

Emily Dickinson

March 19th-  Hold your tongue when you're tempted to say something negative

If you wouldn’t write it and sign it, don’t say it.

Earl Wilson

I like to think of myself as a positive person but when I take time to really listen to what I say, there are still far too many negative things that come out of my mouth.  We live in a negative world where rudeness and thoughtlessness is predominant and rarely a nice word is said.  It rubs off on us if we let it.

There are times when I’ve had to bite my tongue, and not let negative thoughts out of my mouth.  The temptation to speak can sometimes feel like more than we can bear.  The best policy, however, is that if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.

Fact is that it is really simple to be nice and keep negative comments to ourself. The more you do it, the easier it becomes.  It’s a choice each one of us can make every day.

When you stop doing the wrong things, you give the right things a chance to catch up with you

The kindest word in all the world is the unkind word, unsaid.

My mama used to say, "Some people speak out of turn." As I grew up I met some of those people, ones who would speak loudly when it was not their 'turn' to say anything. I was taught 'try not to hurt anyone's feelings just because you have been hurt.'
Good thoughts as always and YES the world is negative. I actually forget it at times since we do not watch TV. but when we are out and a TV is going at a store or restaurant, I can see things have not changed, if it is nasty or bleeds, it leads the news...
Love from NC, a little cool, but the sun is out..

..... or as my DIL might say, "Some people have no filter." Love this first slide! I really should print and paste that above my computer. Have a great day!

I am totally with you on this topic - I think I do okay, but I am not perfect. Love the first photo too.

You said something, Ma, that makes me think. I'm going to have to listen to myself and make sure I'm not saying a lot of negative things myself. I'm like you, I try not to, but am I doing so and not even aware of it? Good thoughts!

I have learned the hard way to not let things out that I don't want thrown back at me. I am very positive and that is what I want others to see in me.
Have a wonderful Tuesday! xo Diana
