Chapter 9, Page 25, Book 18

Laughter is a part of the human survival kit.

David Nathan

Humor is the spice of life.

A sense of humor is just common sense, dancing.

William James

Having a sense of humor doesn’t mean that you have to be funny, you just have to learn to see the lighter side of things.   It can improve our health and help to diffuse difficult situations.  Humor is a fantastic way to reduce anxiety and stress from your life.  A sense of humor and laughter provides perspective and helps keep thing in balance when life seems unfair.

Having sense of humor helps us to have have fun despite what life throws at us.  That means we can laugh at life and poke fun at our not so funny situations.  It means that we approach life with a good natured attitude.  It does NOT mean that we use others to get a laugh or we that we laugh when people make fun of others.

Having a sense of humor helps us to realized that it’s ok to look stupid and to be able to laugh at ourselves.  I came across this prayer by Thomas More that says it all so well.

Grant me, O Lord, good digestion, and also something to digest.
Grant me a healthy body, and necessary good humor to maintain it.
Grant me a simple soul that know to treasure all that is good
and that doesn’t frighten easily at the sight of evil,
but rather finds the means to put things back in their place.
Give me a soul that knows not boredom, grumblings, sighs and laments,
nor excess stress, because of that obstructing thing called ‘I’,
Grant me O Lord, a senses of good humor.
Allow me the grace to be able to take a joke to discover in life a bit of joy,
and to be able to share it with others.

May all of us have more laughter and a gracious good humor in our lives!  God is good…All the time!

Humor is a good natured side of a truth.

Mark Twain

I do love the prayer! And I tried marigolds in a plastic pumpkin this year like your picture. They look really good and were much cheaper and lasted much longer than trying mums. Love your posts, don't always comment but they lift me up.

Such cute fall pictures! A sense of humor is a good thing to have indeed. It does help us get through the tough times. It is always reassuring to know that God is good all the time, no matter what we may be facing.

I have a great sense of humor and I work with my son who is almost as funny as I am (although he would claim he is funnier). I inherited it from my dad who laughed at everything. He was quick witted and so much fun. He even laughed at himself as he dealt with Parkinson's and falling and losing his balance. He believed laughter was healing and I do, too. xo Diana

Yes. Yes, it is! Years ago I learned to laugh at myself (before anyone else could). At first it was an effort (to pretend); now, it comes naturally. Life is a cabaret, for sure!
