Chapter 6, Page 30, Book 18

Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.

Steve Maraboli

Life doesn’t get easier, we get stronger

That which does not kill us will make us stronger.

Friedrich Nietzsche

I used to think that when I got older life would get easier, but though there are some things that have happened that should make life easier for me, the truth is that life is still not easy. The way I live might be different, but there are also different problems and new lessons to learn.

I’ve learned that the way you grow stronger, is by learning to deal with the difficulties that life brings our way. The challenges in life makes us think more creatively and make us better.  Every problem we face is just another opportunity for growth.  They make us wiser, more alert and more willing to take risks.  When we find out that we can survive a situation, it makes us more resilient and better able to handle new problems that come our way.

There are some difficulties that have come my way that I thought would certainly kill me but as you can see, I’m still here. . .

Assume that every problem in your life is a lesson to make you stronger.  Then you never feel like a victim.

Chapter 6, Page 29, Book 18

Since everybody is an individual, nobody can be you.  You are unique.  Not one can tell you how to use your time.  It is yours.  Your life is your own.  You mold it.  You make it.

Eleanor Roosevelt

We all make a difference.

You don’t get harmony when everybody sings the same note.

Doug Floyd

Thankfully we were all born different.  What a boring world it would be if we were all the same. But no matter haw different we may be, the one thing we all have in common is that we all make a difference.

Never stop believing, not for a moment, that you do make a difference.   We all have unique purpose in the world and what we do with our lives is how we fulfill it.

There is only one me and I’m stuck with him.

Robert L Stansfield

We all make a difference.  Each of our lives matter.  No matter what we do or where, each of do something different every day and we all need each other working together to make life happier for all.

From farmers to garbage men, every job is important.  We don’t all want to be doing the same thing just because everyone else is doing it.  We need to be ourselves and do what we’re meant to be doing.

Every individual matters.  Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference.

Jane Goodall

Chapter 6, Page 26, Book 18

I hope you’re proud of yourself for all the times you’ve said yes, when all it meant was extra work or you and was seemingly helpful only to someone else.

Fred Rogers

Time spent helping others is never wasted time.

Giving whether it be of time, labor, affection, advice, gifts or whatever, is one of life’s greatest pleasures.

Rebecca Russell

There is always time for the right things in life.  Family, friends, health, happiness and chances to help others.  Helping others is one of the most important things you will ever do in your life.

It’s possible that helping others does more for the happiness of the person helping than the person who receives the help.  By looking at the challenges in others lives, it make you more acceptable of the stress and hardships we all have to face.

They say if you want to live longer, be a giver.   It lowers rates of depression and puts you in a better mood.  Doing good makes us happier which in turn makes us healthier.

Our lives will always be full if our hearts are always giving.

Chapter 6, Page 27, Book 18

One of the very pleasant things about friendship is the ‘do you remember moments’.

Faith Baldwin

Friends remind me of my greatest moments as well as my most embarrassing ones.

Good friends help you to find important things when you have lost them…your smile, your hope, and your courage.

Doe  Zantamata

Thank the good Lord for good friends! They are the people you can be around and act yourself. Our doors are always open for best friends, they consider our home their home too and love our families just like we do.

We laugh together at our mistakes and don’t judge each other for what we do. You can even sit with a best friend in silence without feeling uncomfortable.  You can enjoy each others company without having to talk the whole time.

Days can go by when I don’t see or talk to my friends but if I need them they’ll always be right by my side.  I can count on them to always be faithful and true.   When we get together it’s like we’ve never parted.  We pick right up where we left off.

My friends make me a better person and let me know when I’ve done something wrong.  They know me for who I truly am and still love me.

We don’t remember days, we remember moments

Chapter 6, Page 26, Book 18

A vacation is what you take when you can not longer take what you’ve been taking.

Earl Wilson

Let your mind take a little summer vacation !

A vacation is having nothing to do and all day to do it in.

Robert Orben

Sometimes it’s good to take a vacation to get your head on straight.  Taking a break helps you to stay motivated, creative and efficient.  Down time is essential to our performance.   Changing scenery and getting away from our usual routines does wonders for our brains.

They say that best time to take a break is when you don’t have time for it.  But taking a break doesn’t have to be about going away.  It can be a matter of simple sitting down and being still for 10 minutes.  Or you could take a break away from the routine and do something different.  Even a walk in the park can give our brains a break.

Being thankful is another way to cope with stress.  Even if you’re just thankful for surviving the day, it can really improve your happiness and sense of fulfillment.  Thankfulness redirects our attention from our difficulties to the benefits we enjoy.

Vacation used to be a luxury, but in today’s world it has become a necessity.

Chapter 6, Page 24, Book 18

The miracle of your existence calls for celebration every day.

Oprah Winfrey

SMILE, life is a miracle

There are only two ways to life your life.  One is as though nothing is a miracle.  The other is as though everything is a miracle.

Albert Einstein

We hardly ever take a moment to reflect on the biggest miracle of all.  Life is our greatest miracle and gift. Just the fact that we are alive is a miracle.  When we thing about all the conditions  that have to be right for someone to be born it is truly miraculous.

We are all human yet we develop in many different ways.  We all have an uniqueness that makes us very special. Our bodies work, our heart beats and our lungs expand.

Love is a miracle with which we can transform the world, even a hug, a loving touch or a smile can cause the miracle of healing others.

Sometimes we let life get the best of us and forget to look at life like every thing is a miracle.  We begin to think of life as work instead of as a gift.

Remember: Every day may not be a good one but try to find the good in every day.  There are miracles to be found when we look for them.

Believe in your heart that you’re meant to live a life full of passion, purpose, magic and miracles.

Chapter 6, Page 23, Book 18

Life has great beauty, and is filled with an unending stream of wonderful possibilities.  Take a few steps back from the noise and distractions, and watch the best of those possibilities come clearly into focus.

Ralph Marston

It is easy to forget the the world is full of possibilities.

The possibilities are numerous once we decide to act and not react.

George Bernard Shaw

Every day contains countless opportunities all dictated by the choices we make.  Just one small change can have a ripple effect into every hour of our lives.  It up to us to decide what is possible.

Be amazed every day.  Every day holds something new to discover.  And we need to take the time to find the possibilities that are always there. Sometimes they hide in the most unexpected of places.

It’s the present moment that is important. Pay attention to what happing right now, it’s the only time guaranteed to us.  The possibilities are there all around us.

I dwell in possibility…

Chapter 6, Book 22, Book 18

I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be.

Martha Washington

I’m determined…

There is no chance, no destiny, no fate that can circumvent or hinder or control the firm resolve a determined soul.

Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Determination is a positive personal trait where you are intent on achieving a goal.  Determination often focuses attention to priorities and and constantly tells you to hold on to the goal no matter what.    Even with the best of planning unknowns arrive that make it hard to keep moving in the right direction.

To succeed in life you have to be determined and focused on what you want to achieve.

Great determination can overcome most odds.

Aesop’s Fables

I have always thought of myself as a determined person.  Whatever I’ve set my mind to, I don’t stop until I’ve completed my goal.  One of my goals in life is to stay happy in whatever circumstances I find myself in.  There was a time that I forgot for awhile and found myself deep in the depths of despair.  That is never a good place to be, but thanks to my faith and some really good friends and of course my dedication to my family, I quickly regained my determination and I’m happy to say I haven’t forgotten my goal again.

Don’t ever loose your determination.  Do what it takes to keep it.

For the resolute and determined there is time and opportunity

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Chapter 6, Page 21, Book 18

Never neglect the little things.  Never skimp on that extra effort, that additional few minutes, that soft work of praise or thanks, that delivery of the very best that you can do.  It does not matter what others think, it is of prime importance however, what you think about you.  You can never do your best, which should always be your trademark, if you are cutting corners and shirking responsibilities.  You are special.  Act it. Never neglect the little things.

Og Mandino

Little things in life aren’t so little

Little things seem nothing, but they give peace, like those meadow flowers which individually seam odorless but all together perfume the air.

George Bernanos

There are many little things that knock on our door every day and we neglect to see the joy they bring.  Ongoing small moments can mean so much more that one grand display of love.  Simple pleasures throughout the day can be far more gratifying that one amazing weekend.

The little things in life are what we remember and appreciate when we reflect on days gone by.  It’s not the great things but the small things that are done in a great way that matter.

Every small thing we do creates a big difference.  Don’t neglect the little things.

One neglect makes ten regrets

Chapter 6, Page 20, Book 18

Things turn out the best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.

Art Linkletter

Accentuate the Positive

People may hear your words, but they feel your attitude

John C. Maxwell.

Life is what we make it.  We have the freedom of choice of what actions we take and how we choose to be.  When we accentuate the positive we eliminate the negative.  Instead of dwelling on what might have been, think about all the possibilities.

If you can stay positive no matter what life throws at you,  your life can be anything you want it to be.  Stay focused when you feel your attitude slipping,  Keep yourself on track.  It’s all up to us to chose .

The good news is, that the bad news can be turned into good news when you change your attitude.

Robert H. Schuller

Chapter 6, Page 19, Book 18

The Second Ten Commandments

Author Unknown

Thou shall not worry, for worry is the most unproductive of all human activities.

Thou shall not be fearful, for most things we fear never come to pass.

Thou shall not cross bridges before you come to them, for no one yet has succeeded in accomplishing this.

Thou shall face each problem as it comes.  You can only handle one at a time anyway.

Thou shall not take problems to bed with you, for they make very poor partners!

Thou shall not borrow others peoples problems, The can better care for them than you can.

Thou shall not try to relive yesterday as it is forever gone.  Concentrate on what is happening in your life and be happy as best you can today.

Thou shall  be a good a good listener, for only when you listen do you hear ideas different from your own.  It is hard to learn something new when you are talking, and some people do know more than you do.

Thou shall not become bogged down by frustrations, for 90% of it is rooted in self pity and will only interfere with positive action.

Thy shall count thy blessings, never over looking the small ones, for a lot of small blessings add up to the big ones.

The shall and shall nots

There are principles which govern our life — they are principles of Life.  If our life is lived according to these principles all is well, and harmony reins in place of vexation and struggle.

Henry T. Hamblin

Most of us were taught the 10 Commandments when we were young and they’ve become guiding principles in our lives.  I thought this second set of commandments were also pretty good things to remember .

Sometimes seeing things put in plain words like these makes us remember what is important in life.  They may not be carved in stone, but they’ll make your life better for sure.

Principles don’t die. They aren’t here one day and gone the next.  They can’t be destroyed by fire, earthquake or theft.  Principles are deep fundamental truths, classic truths.

Steven R. Covey

Note to anyone no longer receiving comments in their email.

Thanks to a friend that blogs I recently found out that I could once again receive comments in my email by checking the box in my comment section that says to email follow up comments.  I took a picture of what I see on my blog when leaving a comment on it.

I’ve started leaving a comment on my blog each day just so I can enjoy receiving comments in my email again.

Hope this helps anyone else having a problem.

I also can no longer comment on a few of my favorite blogs at all as it seems I’m not a member of Google Plus.  So if you are wondering why I no longer comment that is why.  I can read them but cannot comment.

Chapter 6, Page 18, Book 18

Like a welcome summer rain, humor may suddenly cleanse and cool the earth, the air and you.

Langston Hughes

It is all in the smile...

Humor is contagious. Laughter is infectious. Both are good for your health.

 William Fry

There is nothing like a SMILE.  I like writing about smiling and laughter often because I know the positive benefits they can bring to your life.  Having a good sense of humor doesn’t simply make you a more pleasant person to socialize with; it can help you get more done and even save your sanity.

So go ahead: Smile.

Having a good sense of humor can make you more resilient.  It has been scientifically proven that laughter causes positive reactions in the human body; it relieves stress and muscle tension, increases the release of endorphins and dopamine which are chemicals that make you feel good and promote general feelings of well being.

Smile a while and give your face a rest…

When it comes to finding constructive ways of dealing with fear, there is hardly anything more effective than having a good old laugh. This is because it is impossible to laugh at something and be afraid of it at the same time.

A smile is the light in your window that tells others that there is a caring, sharing person inside.

Denis Waitley

Chapter 6, Page 17, Book 18

Fathers Are Wonderful People

Fathers are wonderful people
Too little understood,
And we do not sing their praises
As often as we should…

For, somehow, Father seems to be
The man who pays the bills,
While Mother binds up the little hurts
and nurses all our ills…

And Father struggles daily
to live up to ‘his image’
As protector and provider
And hero of the scrimmage…

And perhaps that is the reason
We sometimes get the notion
That Fathers are not subject
To the thing we call emotion,

But if you look inside Dad’s heart,
Where no one else an see
You’ll find he’s sentimental
And as soft as he can be…

But he’s so busy every day
In the grueling race of life,
He leaves the sentimental stuff
To his partner and his wife…

But Fathers are just wonderful
In a million different ways,
And they merit loving compliments
And accolades of praise.

For the only reason Dad aspires
To fortune and success
is to make the family proud of him
And to bring them happiness…

And like Our Heavenly Father,
He’s a guardian and a guide,
Someone that we can count on
To be always on our side.

Helen Steiner Rice

I’m sending out the best of wishes to all Fathers today for the Happiest Fathers Day ever. You are all loved and appreciated for all that you do!

Happy Fathers Day!
