Chapter 4, Page 12, Book 18

I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go.

Abraham Lincoln

Praying…

When prayers go up, blessings come down.

Author Unknown

Due to the fact that several people have asked for prayers and good thoughts in the last few days, I thought it might be good to do an entry about prayer.

I do believe that prayers work and that they are always answered.  Some answers may not be the ones we want, but they are the ones that are best.   The good Lords ways are not always our ways but they are always for our good.

Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths, or the turning inward in prayer for five short minutes.

Etty Hillesum

I am always willing and feel honored to pray for someone or with someone.  If you want a prayer, you only need to ask.  Some have also asked for my email so here it is:  marainey01 at yahoo dot com.  The one thing that hasn’t changed with aging is my ability to pray.  I may not always kneel in prayer, due to my bad knees, but it’s something I can do sitting, standing, or even laying down.

One of the most valuable things we can do for a person is to pray for them.  Prayer is always the most significant, vital, imperative, essential, critical , crucial …take your pick.  The one thing prayers never is, is a waste.  When you pray for someone, you are offering them the most purest kind of love.

Certain thoughts are prayers.  There are moments when, whatever be the attitude of the body, the soul is on it’s knees.

Victor Hugo

Amen and Amen and Amen!!! I, too, believe in the power of prayer-even if we don't get exactly what we are praying for. xo Diana

That's a wonderful quote by Abe Lincoln. What a comfort, to pray and be prayed for!

In spite of my religious upbringing, I don't know that I appreciated that so much as when Tom took ill and total strangers around the world began uplifting him in their prayers. (Whew, how's that for a run-on sentence.)

I can't think of anything more appreciated than to know that a friend prays on my behalf. What a wonderful offer.

Trying to catch up. Love the statement of ABE. That is a great thought. Driven to my knees when there was no place else to go. Funny that! We many times try EVERYTHING first then fall on our knees.
